Thanks for this update!
I had the occasional stutter when supercruising around planets.
This seems to have gone away completely now! Smooth as silk - very cool.
I'm enjoying an hour of exploring far out right now!

Ditto. Not seen another ship since the update so not sure if other stutters are gone

FD - I have no idea what you done, but my stuttering is all but gone and my graphics performance greatly improved. Thank you, I just couldn't stop playing tonight.

You lucky people. Beta 1.0 was when I enjoyed that.

Hm, somehow, since this patch i have a lot of micro-stuttering (few times per minute, in normal space), which i did not have before... Kind of annoying when always during fights the picture freezes for 1/2 second or so...

Thats more like it. Oh the pain...

Thanks for coming up with a plan! Looks like I fixed it though last night (edited my answer above). Needed to set each machine up on a separate port manually and port forward. I also disabled upnp. Will try switching upnp back on tonight with just the port set to make sure then write up a bug report.

Excellent, and with less hassle and overhead than a VPN.

Seems to point at upnp failing for more than one machine on a lan. What I can't understand though is surely that set up is how networking operates in the Frontier offices so why haven't they noticed this?

They are probably running some different AppConfig.xml Network configuration that means it never goes outside the LAN, so UPNP/NAT/STUN/TURN is not necessary - the clients and the servers can all see each other directly. How they test deployments of the server to the cloud before it hits production without encountering this bug, I don't know - perhaps their private test group are using NATted clients to test real-world connectivity.

Hm, is chaff bugged since this patch? I suddenly have huge problems when using chaff against NPCs, just seem to ignore it...

Like now i a RES, I am flying behind a dropship which shoots turrets at me, i deploy chaff, and keep getting hit all the time exactly like before. That wasnt for me like that erlier.

Wow, some people getting less, some more stuttering.

For me the game stutters more with this release than the previous.
Especially around planets...it's worse but not disasterous.
Around other CMDRS...it's unplayable...so off to SOLO I go until fixed.

If anyone knows any tweaks I can make to resolve or revert , please let me know.
(I'm running a 4770K and a GTX770, so not exactly low end but not bleeding edge either)

Edit: sorry, that's on my second machine...which is a Core2Quad and a GTX750Ti. I'll check with my main gaming rig this arvo (NZT) and repost if different

Cheers

I'm the same and I have a GTX680Ti - I don't remember ever having it stutter-free, and before I had a GTX670FTW and still stuttered. I'm pretty certain it's network related and nothing to do with the graphics engine, but I hadn't thought of trying solo to see - will try that tonight.

I have frequent short freezes when i am for example at a RES, not in supercruise.. but definately did not have that before the patch

I am running an I5-3570k @ 4.2Ghz, 16Gb DDR3 2133Mhz, SLI GigaByte GTX 650TiB. I have virutally no problems running this game. Granted I have turned off Shadows and Turned down super sampling AA to the minimum. The game still looks great, the only time I see any kind of video lag is in dense asteroid fields which I dont bother going to since mining is beyond tedious unless im bounty hunting.

Any fix for stuttering coming ahead?

GeForce GTX 780 OC

- Fix for LAN connection issues (after conencting over lan, if both players had upnp enabled, it was switching back to wan connection)
- Allow recognition of a LAN-connected machine, in cases where Turn had failed to initialise
Add a new appconfig option, RouterPort, to tell the game that a port has been explicitly mapped on the router (another config setting affecting upnp has also been renamed to avoid ambiguity)
- Various telemetry fixes

Michael I know this is a little old and out of date, but can we get your input regarding the RouterPort command in this thread to clear up some confusion? Specifically in the last couple of pages? Thanks
