I didn't see any of the other powers weapons get the same treatment,eg imperial hammer railguns use less power and are the same weight as their counterparts.

Mining Lance costs more energy than a Small beam (almost as much as a medium miner), but deals less damage and is slower. At the same time the heat generation is the same as Beam and Miner combined.
just to name one
