Two weeks in a row I have been unable to receive the completion bonus for exploration data for the weekly mission. The first week I thought I had tried to deliver it to the wrong type of system but this week it request it to be delivered to my home system. I will reread the instructions just to be sure I'm not missing something. Any thoughts or incites?

Newcomer / Intro pp2 exploration data bug?

I've heard people reporting that exploration data sales which don't give you merits also don't give you progress on the weekly assignment. Haven't been able to test that myself, as I haven't gotten that myself. In case that does work though, your best bet would be to find and map some undiscovered valuable bodies, even HMC planets that are candidates for terraforming will do. Or I guess mapping an already-discovered ELW/WWTC/AW/HMCTC might work, I'm not sure on that one - but you'll find plenty of those in, or near, the bubble.
Maybe that's it. I have been using previously discovered but new to me exploration data. Its brand new to me and I get credits but no merits. Thank you Cmdr's I bet that's it. Into the black I go, new discoveries only. Good thing my Dolphin jumps over 60lys now, it will cut down on the travel time.
I think there's another thread trying to work out the logic for exploration data merits. I believe for merits there's some sort of threshold and it checks system by system - handing in a bazillion systems with a rocky world each won't trigger anything. I got such a mission this week and simply found an ELW in the bubble (far enough away from my destination to hand in), mapped that, and it was enough to complete the mission.
