Practically impossible make to money on the Elite dangerous.

The missions pay little and when they pay a lot of example missions of 22 million and need to jump 22,000 light years, practically 1 million a light year, this is ridiculous, not to mention the extremely expensive items to buy for the ships in the stations and how to buy if the game does not give you a satisfactory reward for mission.
What do you Frontier think of doing about making money easier without having to jump so far to achieve miserable 22 million passengers missions?

Making credits takes a bit of planning and just now that it also takes time.

Pick a task you like, combat, trading, exploration and the tailor a ship to do the work.

I went to combat and worked my way up to a Vulture and unlocked a few engineers to improve the range, speed and weapons, class 3 mods can make a big difference.

Search through the forum and you will see that many experienced the same problems.

If you make your post a request for help, you will get a good response. Complaints will get you some help but a lot of ridicule.

I don't do those long passenger missions, but there are shorter ones that pay well. Check around the nearby systems.

You can actually make a decent amount of money...
However, if you just started the game and didn't do much so far, don't expect to be able to buy an Anaconda on the first week..

Raise your pilot federation ranks (Combat / Exploration / Trading) and your reputation with some factions at a station and you'll be getting pretty well paying missions offered to you.
Examples of missions I'm getting after 340 hours of gameplay:
- Passenger sightseeing tours (involves taking passengers to several tourist sites with 70-300 LY range then back to the station) - can be done in ~30 minutes, pays 5-11 million depending on the number of locations / passenger class.. etc.
- Simple transport missions (ex. take 120 units of something and take it to a station) - usually 1 jump away (10-12 ly) and docking at a station so roughly 6-10 minutes.. payout: 1.2-3 million.
- Assassination missions (self-explanatory) - usually involves 1 jump and killing a target - payout: 1.2 - 4 million
- Planetary Scans - usually 1 jump away, land on planet.. scan beacon.. payout: 2-4 million - I have been avoiding these since the patch, since I'm not a fan of getting a permanent bounty for 'trespassing' :)
- etc... etc..

So I don't know what you're getting, but to me these seem like pretty reasonable mission payouts..
Oh and for the record when I started out and finally built an ASP explorer, I actually did do that colonia trip of 22k LY with a passenger that was offering 40 million.. The bonus? All I did was use my advanced discovery scanner after each jump.. and I made like 120-150 million in exploration data.. so that trip almost netted me 200m, which is a bit more than 1m / ly.. and I bought and outfitted a really nice Python from that :)

There are also the side-activities.. you're basically getting paid for everything you do in this game.. There's bounty-hunting (major buff incoming to the Kill-warrant scanner so that will increase BH payouts), there's mining. I have just built a mining ship.. I can make around 17-18 million in 2 hours with it. Yes, doing passenger missions pays more, but this still isn't bad, especially that there are also 'mining rush' quests you can combine them with...

Sooo.. does that answer your problem, or were you hoping for an even bigger payout?.. like what? 40 million for a 10 minute mission? Cuz to me these seem to be just fine

Cheers

practically 1 million a light year, this is ridiculous

I'm afraid it's much worse than that. :D
You've been seduced by the possibility of a huge payout, but those missions are for people heading to or from Colonia. They're just a bonus. Nobody in their right mind would invest their time for so little in return. Play it smart. Elite is a game where as in life, money goes to money. Start off small, save a little, invest a little, take a risk or play it safe. Eventually you'll have enough cash to buy the things you need to generate more. That's the point of the game. Good luck CMDR. :)

If you want reasonable passenger missions, you want the ones where you're doing 100,000 light-seconds or more to reach the stations. Katzenstein Dock is a particular one, it's actually 1/7 of a light year so it takes about an hour to reach once you're in the system. If you can find a nearby station, or indeed multiple stations (but check how much time the passenger mission has because if they give you 90 minutes, that's no time to mess about with), then you can run several missions at once to that station. The price will vary, but you want to be be looking at 4m minimum if you're in a medium transporter - anything as big as a Python and you probably want a 10m minimum. You might even get lucky, like this guy...

If you're asking us, the players, then I think you're going to find a lot of push back on that. We've earned our credits by grinding, so don't expect any sympathy if you're asking for Frontier to just make it easier for you. It's a grind to make the big bucks, there's no way around it. Just be patient, and you'll get there.

A tip from one relatively inexperienced player to another: Missions can stack. Of course, the better missions only come after you've proven yourself to the power in that system. I'm friendly with both the Federation and Alliance (75%) and any system I go to I can usually stack 6 or seven data delivery missions, a few shipment missions, and make some decent coin in traveling to only one or two systems. Yeah, you're not going to make 22 million stacking these kind of missions, but you CAN make a couple mil doing 20-30 minute missions six or seven at the same time. That is, I could before 3.0, and I've been in the blackness since the update hit, so I don't know if they stack the same way any more. And Mining missions can stack too, but be careful, because as soon as you get a lot of valuable resources, the pirates come flocking.

My best results have come from Exploration, hitting the advanced discovery scanner in EVERY system, and close scan every planet that isn't already tagged. Combat, I hit the nav beacons and look for wanted ships, and make sure there are green ships around to back you up. Trade, there are resources out there that will tell you good trading loops, try EDDB (literally just Google search it) and hit the trade loop finder.

Best of luck!

If all you are concerned with is making money, try this:

Good news! They have - there are several ways in-game right now to make 50-100 million credits in an hour.

Not every method earns that much and you may have to look around and do a bit of research to find them - though I stumbled across at least three just playing the game looking for other stuff - but they're all definitely out there.

That sounds a bit like an ad for Quince :)))
But if you have other, 'legit' forms of making 50-100m an hour, then by all means, please DO share as now I'm interested as well.. haha

Cheers!

Money can be made it takes time never think it's a get rich galaxy it will in time, it took me almost a year to get my adaconda just after the beta, nower days its a matter of weeks, even days depending how long you play and the amount of time you play. so be patient. get your rep in a system and the credits will tumble in.
