Tired of mulitplayer, and hope the real focus changes to what made elite.

I enjoy playing and completing with real people, but I do not want this game to frustrate me when someone owns my @ss. I have played just about every FPS for hours on end, and now I'm bored with them.

I just want to explore this game like I did with both Elite and Frontier. I want to land on planets, scoop fuel from the nearest sun/star, survive in deep space. I want as much realism as possible, not a freaking deathmatch.

I really hope leetspeak pre-teens do not ruin this game.

I think you're fine.

There's all sorts of graduated options as to how 'multiplayer' the final game is - IIRC you can set up a group of friends to only play with, which can be as few as 'just you' so in effect old solitary Elite with the option to have a few trusted friends co-op with you.

I am KBM at the moment, but intend to go HOTAS at some point. My aging brain and hands don't do KB and mouse so well. I feel comfortable with one or other but not both together. The mouse works fine but I cannot handle hunting around the keyboard and trying to remember which key is which at the same time. With a HOTAS keys will be more adjacent and I can put more functionality on my right hand (the mouse hand)

I'm impressed with anyone who's able to fly well without a stick or at least a pad. Was one thing in Frontier, where the commands were comparatively minimal, but with the multi-looks, different screens, firing groups, thrust directions… you'd need ten fingers on each hand to be able to manage it!

And even with the videos and whatnot people are making, the lack of any form of directions has me completely lost for the most part, and trying my damndest to learn as I go.

Don't worry about up and down. Only realize, there is no up and down. It's all about getting on your bogeys six.

That is a thing of beauty right there. Just picturing the pilot, big cheesy grin on face, bopping away in the cockpit.

In space, no one can hear you singing along to your radio.

And he's doing it at full pelt too... Not even in the sweet spot.

Singleplayer will serve you well. PvP is not for everyone. Me included. I'll give it a go, but I know where I'll be most. Out exploring the galaxies at my own pace.
