Ships Pre-Built Ships PythonMk2 and TYPE-8 (STANDARD)

I found the usual P2 and T8 builds in the store that have long been available for in-game credits.
They are on sale at 40% off and cost 9912 each.

Why is that? I don't know something and there is some reason to sell these ships now for ARKS ?

I guess you still get the 0Cr. deployment and reduced rebuy due to the 0Cr. hull? It's definitely not the value proposition it was three months ago, but somebody might want to have the ships immediately available to them if they reset their account.

Though if those people aren't paying for Ody instead...then they are a perfect consumer.

Oh, I would be counted among them 😊 My laptop doesn't have a discrete graphics card and relies on the integrated GPU on the AMD CPU.

I can run Horizons well on low/medium settings but even then the frame rate drops to 25-28 FPS within an orbital station.

Planning to get the T8, seems like the perfect time to do so 👌

Here is the secret to make you reconsider: There is no difference between Live Horizons and Live Odyssey as far as the engine and the system requirements are concerned. Horizons is just Odyssey with certain features enabled. If you can run Horizons live, you can run Odyssey live, maybe with the exception of on foot CZs, and maybe on foot settlements in general.

Something I don't know: If you own Odyssey but log into Horizons live - do you have access to the new ships or not?

I wish I could risk it, but there's a big difference between an integrated GPU and a discrete one. The former borrows system RAM which is slower and harder to access than the very fast on-chip VRAM for a full blown graphics card.

As of now, using high settings makes my fps crawl and I haven't even set foot on a planet yet. The laptop already runs hot on low settings, I need a fan to keep it cool. Odyssey is just not worth the risk for me until I get a full blown PC with a good graphics card sometime in the future.

Currently in my P2. Just logged into Horizons and I'm still in my ship. Can't imagine how else it'd have handled it, it's not like it was going to put me in another ship.

If you are playing the live game rather than Legacy then you are already using the 4.0 game client that is shared by Odyssey and Horizons (Live) - and owning Odyssey does not mean that one need play Odyssey but one will still get access to buy the new ships for credits only once they are out of Arx4Access.

Yeah, stations in Ody should be exactly the same as stations in Horizons. As long as you don't go anywhere near planets you're not going to run into any higher stress on your machine. And all you need do is log in long enough to buy a ship. If you're really paranoid, lower all the graphics settings first. 🤷‍♂️

I wish I could risk it,

Not only is Live Horizons using the same code as Odyssey, if you get Odyssey you can still launch into Horizons instead if you want (switching versions in the launcher is one way) so I think the risk is about 0.
