Are there any plans to make or design keyboards specifically for keyboard and mouse or joystick and keyboard combinations ?
I use a Zboard basic for Elite Dangerous, but Zboard has been taken over by Steel Series, so not sure if they are open to Software house designs anymore. There were a myriad of different setups and key combinations for all sorts of games, from World of Warcraft to Call of Duty, but the company seemed to have hit a popularity downturn and got eaten up by their closest competitor.
Its a keyboard that gets a lot of use, so had to buy a few standbys from Ebay, but they are getting rarer to snap up. I just love the WASD keys and the position of the peripheral number keys and shift/space keys, it is a very intuitive setup and easy to get into, well for me anyway.
As far as Elite goes, I use it to compliment my T-Flight hotas, as there are not enough buttons, but because of the now remoteness of the keys, I can only use the bottom ones to quickly get to in a hurry. Yes, I can remap them and its easy to do, so no problem there, but for newbies, there are a confusingly large number of keys to access if your using a mouse/key combo.
To attract new buyers/users/players, would a new design of keyboard be appropriate or a waste of resources ?
Remember the old keyboard overlay anyone? maybe thats an option for future thought, a nostalgic link to Elites' roots ?
Or does anyone know of a keypad accessory that keeps all these extra keys in one, snug, small place ?
Thoughts?
