Pre Engineered Suits and Weapons

Should I buy multiple pre engineered weapons and suits (with scope and night vision and other things) in the expectation that frontier will allow us to remove them and attach to other weapons?

I'd be inclined to buy them if they are useful in their current form. Rather than waiting to see if Frontier decide that their initial decision of non-removable is the wrong one.

But I am also guilty of buying pre-engineered kit 'just because' , so am probably not the best source of good advice! 🥳

If you got the cash to burn, sure. But never, ever, never expect FDev to do anything that makes sense.

Long and short of it is never expect Frontier to do anything, and it wasn't a bug, it was a feature.

I would say no: example, if you just want the scope it won’t take that long to find a weapon with a scope, so why buy in advance when we don’t know if they’ll implement this?

I always pop into frontier supply to see what is there and I've bought some pre engineered things but not a lot.

I buy it if it seems like an interesting combo, like the noise suppressed rocket launcher: I used to use it for assassinations because it was fun. The thing is, I only buy it if there’s a chance I’ll use it. A carbine with magazine size is clutter.

Did so.
Will have all my mains gear together before this happens if its happening at all.
But maybe we can get mats back from that mods and I can spend them an alt ;)

If not... Well, what are 200mio :)

Bit OT but for the last mod on my C-44 ............ Faster Handling or Magazine Size ? (Will add that I use it in combo with my Eclipse so often switching)

I have both, I do notice the difference having faster handling but it's not significant with the SMGs, or even the pistols, especially atm with the low frame rates. I find Magazine Size far more useful.

I also, personally, find the Scope a bit of a waste as everything happens at close quarters with the SMGs and the reduced field of view and slower movement aren't worth the improved accuracy IMO. Although it does add an asset to the model, which is the most important thing for an explorer - Always think of the screenshots...

Stability is great though.

Consideration should be given as to how long you think it will take to unlock the engineers. If you expect to unlock them in short order, then buy something with a thing what you want and use that. If engineer unlocks will be weeks away though.....
For suits buy a Grade 3 with a useful mod, but hold out until you find one with night vision and then start upgrading and modding that. Night Vision is probably the most single useful suit mod.
For weapons there are more options. For silent work outdoors, try to find a weapon with audio masking (tier 3 engineer). For indoor work find a mod you really want and then add noise suppression. Noise suppression, faster handling, greater range, stability, magazine size and reload speed are all Tier 1 engineers.

For noisy work, there are even more options.

Yes the scope mod on the Eclipse is not ideal, I also am not keen on the irritating noise the Takada scopes make when zooming either ! I guess buying the pre-modded guns is handy for trying out the effects before settling on a 4-mod G5 build though.

Exactly. I've brought a bunch of pre-modded stuff to try out and now have a good idea of how I want my weapons on my (much more fighty) alt.

Yep. Backpack capacity is TECHNICALLY more useful, since its something you'd ALWAYS need versus the night vision which is needed in dark settlements. That said, backpack capacity is unlocked after faffing about with Apex for a few minutes, so its just a case of gathering those materials - whereas the path to unlocking night vision takes a while.

On the Mav, the backpack capacity and reduced tool battery consumption made my life much easier. I'm about to put xtra battery and night vision on it, once i pick up 1 more noc data (darn rng).

The Dom has xtra battery, reduced tool, shield regen and the last will be night vision - after the mav since i use it much more often.

My Mav plan is to have backpack, night vision, and quieter footsteps. Plus either reduced tool battery or improved battery capacity - but since update 6, I'm more inclined to go with enhanced tracking given how NPCs are seemingly FAR more prone to spot you before you spot them (and are more aggressive/liable to swarm now)

Haven't even BEGUN to ponder other suits yet, since I'm still behind in the gathering of materials and whatnot (didn't start playing until update 4)
