Pre-Flight checklists wont stay enabled any advice?

So I have kind of an opposite problem regarding preflight checklists than most people have.

I can't keep them enabled. Every time I enable them, it works once, then it defaults to off.

I like the checklists because they are immersive to me. I work on aircraft irl and it's second nature to me when launching a craft that you do a flight control test EVERY TIME.

Any advice? I don't want to do a macro.

I believe that it's intended to be a one time test to make sure you have what you need mapped to play the game. I don't think fdev intended for it to be a realism feature.

I kinda get where you're coming from, OP.

Flight control checks are absolutely vital in aviation, as there's a not-so-long line of swiss cheese slices just waiting to line up. N121JM @ Bedford, Mass. comes to mind as a prime example.

However, as the 2nd poster pointed out, in-game it's more a 'have you got the correct amount of buttons/axis bound' exercise than anything based in immersion or reality.

Saying that, when I first played Elite: Dangerous it made me smile when I got the initial flight control check prompt, and it would be nice for maybe a toggle-able slimmed-down or streamlined version of it to be included for each launch, should a player wish to have it.

I'll get behind this. Being able to toggle pre-flights to 'always on' would be cool.

Same reason FA-Off now toggles back to ON every, single, time you drop out of SC. Because frontier refuse to believe people are intentionally doing this, that we are clearly mistaken, and that the correct option is the opposite of what we have elected.

Having the game remember what state each toggle is in, per jump, shouldn’t even be a discussion at this point. Please, for the love of god Frontier, remember the state of toggles. All of them.

If you give the people options to toggle a state (for whatever reason elected); remember it.

Post it in the bug report forum.

it was for beta. It’s a known issue. It’s existed for over a year. It used to randomly flip the state. Now it just does it religiously every single instance change. Every. Single. One.

I don’t even think this is a bug now; it looks to be an intentional outcome.

There's a bug report already open for that issue iirc. Another voice in there wouldn't go amiss, I'm sure.

Sure. I’ll add it to the others raised for the same problem that’s existed for the last year+. Sorry. Not your fault. I just find it remarkable Frontier can’t reliably store the state of toggles and maintain that through an instance change. Yet I can enable a wing beacon and that says on until I log out?

I don’t even.

No worries about the snark, I understand your frustration. :D

And now you mention wing beacon, well that's kind borked right now too. Winged up with a friend earlier to wing-beacon guide him into Dav's Hope and out of nowhere the wing dropped and my contacts page became unresponsive. Same happened on his side. We both had to relog to fix it.

Print a card that has:

Elite Dangerous Pre Flight Checklist:
1) "Enable Pre Flight Check List"

stick to side of monitor.
do not fail to check.

But yeah - I could go a "cold boot first use" option for the checklist.
My rig is a frankenstein monster of new and old, hand made and store bought, top end and rubbish.
And I use the PC for other stuff so the chances of having a USB port unplugged are high on first use.

Actually I took a rebuy in-station the other night.
The 5V PSU that boosts the USB hub on the throttle quad had a dead capacitor in it.
The voltage fluctuations started spamming the boost and FA-Off bindings.
