Pre-Order Bonuses

So they have the different versions of Heli/Truck skins for each platform, the deluxe version has 5 more dinosaurs than the base game, but are these the only additional content for the game? Like a Store exclusive version with a skin of its own or a physical Deluxe version that has some goodies with it would be good to know about before preordering.

Went to have a look, but can’t get past the age verification........in spite of being on the wrong side of 40!

So, If I understand correctly, we can only get those five species (Suchomimus, Styracosaurus...) if we buy this deluxe version? They won't be in the base game if someone purchases JWE after the release?

Traditionally, developers will make small additional content purchasable separately at a relatively higher price. If we think about it, base version of the game is just less content at reduced pay, because the deluxe edition is at the traditional full price. There's about a $5 (American) difference between the editions, so that's a dollar a dinosaur. If they become purchasable post release, I wager it'll be a couple of bucks more.

This also sets the stage for possible post release DLC including new dinosaurs, possibly ones we see in the movies or other media that didn't make the final cut of base game.

Alternatively, other devs will lock content to the edition they're exclusive to. The tricky thing with JWE is the nature of the content that is locked to a specific version and the fact that deluxe is traditional full price and standard is reduced price. This isn't simply just skins, this is full-fledged content. If it's not available as a separate purchase in some form, I wager there will be backlash.

That being said, I already bought the deluxe version lol.

So already cutting content... damn nice move. Forcing players to hand over more cash to get all the dinos. This industry...

Not really. Like I suggested, triple A games are traditionally $60 at full price. Special editions will usually add another $10-$70 onto that. If this was cutting content and forcing people to pay more, we would be paying $60 for base game and another $5 dollars for the five dinosaurs in the deluxe version. Except we don't have that. Instead, "base game" costs $55 and the "deluxe edition" costs $60. I use quotations because in reality, the standard edition is just a version with reduced content at a reduced price. The "deluxe edition" in truth is the full game with all dinosaurs, priced at triple A full price: $60. $55 is otherwise a really odd price to set your game as. Like I said previously, it's a dollar a dinosaur to make it the traditional price these titles are set as.

No one is handing over "more cash". You can just choose to hand over less cash and get five less dinosaurs.

it's 5 extra dinos - hardly a game breaker. And no, no-one is forcing you to do anything. Just don't pay the extra. simple really

yes you won't have a complete set of dinos - and as more dinos quite possibly release via DLC you can choose not to buy them too and still not have a "complete" set of dinos. The extra dinos are just that, extra. Not having them in the game isn't going to stop you enjoying the game to the same full degree you will enjoy it without these extras

I am not a big fan of the orange color steam users got stuck with. I prefer the blue or green color. My main interest was getting those 5 extra Dinosaurs.

It's 5 extra Dinosaurs. The base game is $55. For 60 you get 5 Dinosaurs, that's $1 per animal/model. It's a good deal. It's only $5, in the US anyway.

Same lol. I couldn't care less about the vehicle skins. There's no way I'm letting Suchomimus, Majungasaurus and Styracosaurus slip through my fingers.

It's still shady as heck but i will for sure buy that deluxe version. The suits has trained us all well to buy games in parts...

You still got the power to say no, but then again it’s onky you who wil suffer unless all customers say no, and that won’t happen I’m afraid.

I normally agree with this one, the exception I find here on ps4 is deluxe is £4 more, Thats a small enough sum to make it actually worth considering considering its a game about dinos and theres 5 extra dinos....seriously doubt ill be abole to acquire them in the future for less.

I do hate the practice of reduced editions and special editions, although this is just small enough for me to not make a big deal out of it.

Rainbow 6 Siege on the other hand....that's another story.
