Pre-Order Question

Hello,
I have looked for the answer to this question all over the internet and have been unsuccessful.

Please tell me if you know does the regular digital download of Elite Dangerous come with the full game including all of its current expansions? I don't see any indication of Horizons being able to be bought separately and the descriptions on the Playstation Store, Frontier and Elite websites do not specifically include or exclude the expansions from the base download.

So the $30 game has no expansions? That's weird they don't offer Horizons as a stand alone download in that case.

Horizons can't run without Elite Dangerous, which is why it isn't available as a standalone.

That could be (total noob about PS4/Sony).

FD have been informed about the seeming discrepancy and will (I assume) be looking at this tomorrow.

I thought that as it is a new game on PS4, what was being offered was either the Base game (Elite Dangerous) or the base game and Expansions (Elite Dangerous + Horizons), as there is no point in allowing someone to just buy Horizons - they wouldn't be able to play it without Elite Dangerous!

That seems the most logical to me.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I know that Horizons won't play without the base game. I am just wondering if all the deluxe offers over the less expensive option is frontier points. I'd rather play the game a bit before I decide if I want to spend anything on micro-transactions.

The reason I asked the question is because it isn't really explicit anywhere as to if Horizons comes with both versions or not.

I'm glad someone at frontier will be looking at the discrepancy in the Playstation Store description soon. I'll be waiting to preorder until I know the answer.

The cheapest version is probably the Legendary physical disk version, the version for most convenience is the Commanders Deluxe edition on the store. Either of those and you won't go wrong.

Hi - what do you mean by convenience? Specifically, will the Legendary edition require the disk to be in the drive while playing, and will it be slower due to disk access?

Does anyone have a good comparison between the two versions?

Thanks.

Hi Foddy,

By talking of convenience, he meant you don't have to put the game disc on the disc drive everytime you want to play Elite because, like every other disc based game on PS4, you need to have the disc inside the drive at all times.
Both versions will run exactly the same, cause they'll be both installed on the PS4 HDD prior to playing.
The procedure of having the disc inside the disc drive is a security measure only, to make sure you own the physical copy of the game, the game will not be running directly from the disc/disc drive.

I hope it helps.
Cheers!

Yeh basically what Astro says, Legendary will always need to be in the drive when you want to play basically. It won't be slower at all.
