pre pre-alpha promotion for streamers?

this question just popped up in my brain. fdev, are you planning or thinking about giving some streamers a sneak peek into a sort of pre pre-alpha build, even before lifetime backers get access to the game? i think this would be a win/win for everyone. elite streamers get a boost through the promotion, the game gets promoted and viewers/potential players get an idea of what the game is all about.

i think it would especially be beneficial for the streamers who are usually quite small, because elite is more of a niche game. there's a couple of elite focused twitch streamers who are on the brink of becoming twitch partners and this sort of exclusive access might be enough of a boost to make this possible. those streamers obviously keep streaming elite, they keep growing while automatically promoting the game for fdev, basically for free. again, win/win for everyone.

for me as a viewer and potential player, i would love to see that. it would show me that fdev actually do care about their content creators and community interaction. i don't see that too often unfortunately. i also love to get exclusive sneak peeks of things i'm really excited about and looking forward to. i'm also looking forward to some actual uncut gameplay and not some cleverly edited marketing material.

what do you think about that? would you consider this unfair for lifetime expansion owners who only get to play the game when the alpha releases?

Just a question, these Streamers - are they special people, one's that should get access to the alpha before the rest of us mere mortals? Will it only be certain streamers that have 'x' many followers or anyone who says they are a streamer? What about content creators, you know, those that will write an open letter if they don't get their own way, will they be classed as a streamer if they only comment but don't stream?

So many questions ;)

Only if they stream a fascinating over-the-shoulder video of themselves handwriting multiple drafts of the open letter.

streamers....

They drafted the Open Letter, damn I though it just magically appeared, manifested out of thin air by those who are more powerful that us ;)

Oh gosh no, these things take time, effort, and note-taking from various Bazmeson inspiration sources. Along with a degree of self-propelled egoism, and the ability to act on the phrase "I believe I speak for everyone..." to name but a few excellent personal traits ;)

I'm not a streamer... (sprinkler maybe...)

... but I'm tempted to livestream the first couple of hours of play as soon as alpha finishes downloading...

I can practically guarantee it will demonstrate to those other 'pro' streamers exactly how not to present their content :ROFLMAO:

This is almost the same thing as Instagram "influencers" asking for free things and handouts. There's only a handful of recognizable ED streamers, none would garner enough views to warrant such a thing (just look at the low turnout for official FDev streams), and they're also having stories posted in PC Gamer magazine which would certainly get more views than any video game streamer.

They're going to have to wait with the rest of us.

they are special in the sense that people watch them play videogames and basically promote the games they play which then creates interest and potentially generates new players which is good.

there are just a handful of popular elite streamers. most of them only have about 100 viewers which isn't a lot but it's something. that's why i think it would be neat for those streamers to get the opportunity to stream exclusive content, for a limited time. if it's an "exclusive first look", this might actually attract players outside the elite bubble (pun intended) which, again, is good.

Okay so they are special in their own mindset then, they don't have a say in how the game is run. Also, if they have only about 100 viewers, what is the bonus for FD in giving this select group early early access since those that watch these 'popular elite streams' only just number in the three digits and probably already own and play the game. I dare say that because Elite Dangerous is such an unique and niche game within the gaming world, if you don't play the game you probably won't be interested in what Odyssey is anyway.

I just think giving early early access to well a bunch of people most of us don't know will cause a lot of problems and discontent in the community.

Well I hope all alpha access is under a do not share, embargo! NDA The entire alpha!
It's ment for testing bugs and quality testing. Not promotion material type content.

i absolutely don't think so at all. as you rightfully said, elite is quite unique and niche in the gaming world. it's not smart from a business perspective to stream that game. but the "popular" elite streamers, or let me expand that and say elite content creators, do it anyways. they're not just streamers, they're passionate elite players. they have all their own sub communities, they create content, share guides... their activity within the community of elite is more than yours or mine. i think this deserves respect and support. giving those select few the opportunity to stream exclusive content for a limited time would be one way to support their work.

You may want to broaden your viewing pleasure. Some of the more 'known' content providers spend more air time telling their devoted viewers what is wrong with the game, how bad FD are and how good other similar programs are than talking up the game. In fact some seem to go to great lengths just to find things to complain about.
