Prediction time! More Gaurdian goodies? Praise Salvation!

Sooo... Update 9 is coming...
Thursday...
The bright sentinel is moving also this thursday to maia...

Last time the bright sentinel moved from mbooni to the pelaidies it also brought some DELICIOUS engineered guardian plasma chargers.

Prediction time! I predict salvation sempai uwu will give us either a hot new engineered guardian module OR... or... size 3 engineered guardian shard and plasma charger.
Personally I would like an engineered guardian power plant... I am still waiting to have mine back! YOU HEAR! I want it back! I want my G5 monstered size 6 guardian power plant back! I haven't forgotten! I have like 17 module blueprints and full storage on all guardian mats! waiting!
anyway. I would like an engineered guardian power plant but really I would also love a large guardian plasma charger.
Imagine that with a juicy 50% increase to damage...
3.9 damage with 50% more and a full charge multiplier of 17!
That should be about 99 damage? Flying at you at 6km/s speed and with a fast cycle time too!
mmmm =w=
yesss...
praise salvation... \ [T] /

Reading this, I more expect them to nerf the plasma chargers than handing out more goodies sadly.

All I want for Christmas is 4 class 3 Plasma Chargers engineered with focused, efficient and flow control. That's not too much to ask, is it?

They really do need to release the C3 version of that modded GPC (and the shard). Right now, the C3 plasma caster is a completely wasted weapon model. No one in their right minds would ever equip it, given how much better the C2 modded one is (less power, less distro, 30% more dmg, 5 times the shot speed.. all for a tiny bit of heat)

A c3 version would be pretty op, honestly.

I'm not sure how a c3 version could be made that is balanced with standard tactics and doesn't become op with gibbing tactics.

In that case, the unmodded C3 should be removed from the game, as its just a noob trap.

To be honest, i think it would be reasonably balanced by the insane power draw (4 MW for a single gun) and distro usage.

Guardian on foot weapons and sites. Hoping for guardian starships also (not just slfs) imagine a krait or python sized guardian starship, with guardian distro/power plant, guardian fsd booster, guardian weapons, launching guardian SLFs. To make it easier here is a possible structure.
CORE INTERNALS-
Power plant: Class 7
Power Distributor: Class 7
Life support: Class 4
Frame Shift Drive: Class 5
Thrusters: Class 6
Sensors: Class 6
Fuel tank- Class 5
OPTIONAL INTERNALS-
2x Class 6
3x Class 5
3x Class 4
2x Class 3
2x Class 2
1x Class 1
HARDPOINTS#
4x Class 3
2x Class 2
UTILITY MOUNTS-
6x
MULTICREW SEATS-
3x (including pilot)
Fighter Hangar- yes
Base speed- (with un engineered 6A and 4 pips to ENG) 325 m/s
Boost speed- 455 m/s
Jump range- (Stock 5A FSD no boost- stripped optionals) 35 ly
Hull mass- 300T
Shields- (6A stock, no boosters) 720 mj
Hull- (lightweight, stock) 100
Armor hardness- 40
Maneuverability- same as Krait Phantom

Consistent with the guardian SLFs it is a shield tank with a paper thin hull and a lot of damage output. Lore wise guardian tech had great jump range, same with this ship.

I'd cut out the 3x size 5 optional internals. Its a wee bit too much for a medium ship. Maybe a large ship? Slower and less maneuverability with rhat many optional internals?

Oof Lmao, that's...insanely powerful.

That's got identical optionals to a Challenger except with 3x more C5's. It's got a fighter bay AND one more C3 hardpoint compared to a Krait, giving it more effective DPS than a corvette. Unengineered 6A stock shield giving 720MJ is more than 200% what a Krait has. With an extra 2 utility slots, you're looking at more like 300% the raw durability.

You've created a ship that's as fast and agile as a phantom, with more DPS and durability than a corvette, and more cargo capacity than a Python.

Wowza.

And people moan when I want a 1000ton-cargo Panther Clipper

If I were to make a dedicated Guardian ship, it would be something like this:

Guardian Halberd
Size: Medium
Agility: Medium
Speed: Medium-Fast
Hardpoints: 2x Large, 1x Medium, 1x Large(VERY sub-optimal placement).
Special Effect: AX Weapons have 33% more Damage, Projectile Speed, and Armor Piercing
Can rig a Fighter Bay.

The hardpoints would look something like this:

1641451082460.png

The idea being, this ship facilitates the use of things not currently much used in AX combat. There are three centrally-located hardpoints - the 2x L and 1x M, but the third L is at the tip of a long spike above the ship. Something like this side profile:

1641450896191.png

So, the ship CAN use gauss, if that's what you want. OR it can use large weapons instead, and get similar or better results. It has a hardpoint singularly dedicated to turreted multicrew use. It has a fighter bay.

Because what AX combat needs isn't more of the same, it's better way to do things in a new way!

We know guardians were ridiculously advanced, with great shield tech. It kinda makes sense to be OP. (And we need a meta change)

So u cant put 4 gauss. My thing had 4 Class 4 because of 4 large plasma chargers or shard cannons.

Long range gauss. Slap that hydra from 6 km

Yeah but no one would use any other ship for anything, pretty much. It would make the Krait II crap in comparison (faster, more firepower, better shields, more internals)

It might be OK actually, if all the core internals were guardian modules and could not be swapped for human ones, so no engineering. Well, actually, it would probably kinda suck at that point, no thruster engineering or distro.

I don't think you need to handicap the 3rd large that way. You basically force either a thermal vent beam or a Turret for MC. Better to keep symmetry and convergence and let me pick the load out I prefer. The special effects would be better built into Guardian PP, PD, and Module Reinforcement (the idea being the extra power more efficiently routed to modules that can take additional strain results in more powerful shots). While we're at it, give GSRPs an additive 25% resistance to Phasing Sequence effects. Personally, I'd want 5 hardpoints to max out AX weapons plus one Flak. Either add another medium (preferred but Krait/Python...) or split the 3rd Large into two Mediums.

If you're looking to add something truly new, allowing the tri-hull structure to gimble would be interesting. You could end up with Fixed weapons in the 3 large Hardpoints that acted like gimbled weapons. If you did that, remove the +33% damage buff and apply the AP and Shot speed when both a Guardian PP and PD are used.

I'd avoid too much guardian synergy, or all-guardian will end up the only worthwhile build.

As for the odd hardpoint, forcing players to think differently is the whole point!

It wouldn't be a terrible thing to have an all-guardian shielded build as an alternative to the shield-less cold-running meta. As for the odd hardpoint, I don't think it does force players to think differently: the poor placement basically gives two options: Multicrew or Gimbled Thermal Vent beam. Multicrew isn't much of an option for a solo-player and thermal vent is already the default (and the fighter already provides a Multicrew option).

If I were trying to push a Multicrew option, I'd let the ship break the 4 AX weapon limit, give extra small/medium hardpoints with terrible convergence and release turreted versions of the modified guardian weapons. Maybe something like three Larges with tight convergence (intended for the pilot), one medium with lousy convergence siting up and back on each wing/pylon with convergence comparable to an Imperial Cutter's wing mounts. Size the PD so that you'd need multicrew (extra pip) to make effective use of he medium hardpoints. Release a shield-less fighter with meta-alloy/guardian hull reinforcement (Fluff... basically no shields, much more armor, and immunity to corrosive). Armed with AX Missile and Flak.
