There are my predictions for ships for each manufacturer, with >< tags for ships with concept art or other hints at their existence, and -- tags for those that I am guessing at.

-Marlin- A dedicated racing craft that can be modified to be a capable if expensive fighter (ALL the style)
-Puma- ZPG's answer to the Type 7, perhaps notable for having large weapons in dorsal and ventral mounts for powerful turrets
-Fed Gunship- A dedicated Fed fighter, given that the Vulture is open access.
-Imperial Liner- A dedicated passenger transport for Imperial pilots
-Imperial Explorer- A top-tier explorer, almost as big as the Anaconda.

>Dolphin< A smaller Orca, Cobra sized
>Beluga< A bigger Orca, almost Anaconda sized
>Hunter< Gutamaya fightercraft with slightly more angular shapes than Imp ships, but accessible to all.
>Panther LX< The biggest Cargo ship, as long as the Anaconda, and as wide and tall as the Type 9
>Fed Corvette< A dedicated combat ship, almost as big as the Anaconda, but with 2 Huge hardpoints, dorsal and ventral.

We already know much more about the ships that will be added :). In the Alpha and Beta of the game you could find folder with the sounds of the ships that will be added. ( Not all of them ).

Okay, I see the Panther, Beluga and Dolphin there. The Empire and Federation fighters are the NPC ships which are too small for intersystem travel. I believe the Empire Trader is the current Imperial Clipper, leaving the "Cutter" unaccounted for.

What, I wonder, is the "Cutter?"
-theory 1- What I have called the "Puma", a mid sized ZPG Freighter
-theory 2- What I have called the Imperial Explorer, a gutamaya long distance explorer, par excellence. I figured It'd be Imperial only, but maybe not...

May not be releveant in any way but IRL - Cutters are general lightly armed mulitrole vessel suited for long patrols, blue ocean maritime security/coast guard work. As opposed to a corvette, which are a small coastal warship but typically heavily armed and fast for its size.

The Imperial Cutter is probably the same rank equivalent to the Corvette - It's been mentioned in galnet, books and in the Courier description so I'm pretty sure we'll see it at some point.

I'm picking the cutter to be a large versatile ship - and Imperial Anaconda so to speak, maybe better hard points and shielding with less cargo but still at heart a multi role. Where the Corvette will be a pure uncompromising fighting ship.

Cutter would go where the explorer is.

The Hunter might be renamed something like the "Imperial Corsair", if they haven't scrapped the concept.

I'm hoping we'll see at least one Gutamaya ship that isn't Imperial only. Especially given that Core Dynamics has at least 2 general access ships.

I don't see it in the near future. The Cutter seems to be the counterpart to the Corvette and will therefore have a rank requirement. Maybe if we ever see an Imperial Explorer...
But I think I read somewhere that Gutamaya sells only to the Empire and its allies while Core Dynamics sells everything besides the special Fed navy ships to anyone who has enough money.
But what can you expect from a Fed based corporation. ;)

I thought the Hunter was the Imperial Fighter.

There was an EMPIRE_LINER in the sound folder at one point, at the same time as the BELUGALINER, so I would think its a seperate ship from that.

of all old elite ships, what it the ones that are the closest to the ship of my dream in my signature ???

The prices of the old ships were different, and the Cobra is actually 'medium', but it was the Asp or Imperial Courier.

There was an alternative to the Asp which was the Harrier (imagine a cross between the current Viper, Fer-de-Lance and Imperial Courier for looks).

The Tiger.
It was basically a fatter Asp, like the Asp was a fatter Cobra.

Tiger was more of a pure trader though, IIRC it turned way slower than the Asp (and Imperial Courier/Trader), and accelerated slower than the slightly larger Courier.

I would say if the iClipper is the Trader (though it kind of straddles the line between both, as it used to have a larger payload than the Python), the old Courier is what is the best match for the signature one.
