Does preloading or taking part in the betas ever make the release download quicker? surely it does because most of the files should in theory be the same bar the changes to data that Frontier make... just curious as it does vary between games... always taken part in beta as I'm a lifer but wondered with Elite if anyone knows.

Yes, because the launcher has settings that use beta data to cut down the real download.
