Prem. Beta - Alpha 1.1 - Cannot Full Screen

Hey everyone! After a few days of mental debate and hours upon hours of YT vids, I've bought into the Premium Beta and am attempting to enjoy the Alpha 1.1 access I was graciously given. I have one problem though, I cannot full screen the client. It plays like it's going to full screen, then ultimately reverts back to a windowed 1920 x 1200 resolution. I've been playing in windowed for a bit and enjoying the crap out of it, but would love to get full screen working.

Brief specs: 1440p display, secondary 1920x1080 display, gtx 780, i5 3570k, 16gb ram, track ir 5, ch hotas.

I've disabled the secondary display in nvidia control panel as well as exited display fusion, thinking it was conflicting, but I get the same result. Also tried launching without TrackIR, and manually configuring full screen/resolution directly in the config file, but that didn't help any. It just keeps reverting to 1920x1200 windowed.
I've ran two searches for help before posting, but was unable to run into anything similar here on the forums. One search for "full screen" and another for "resolution".

Thoughts? :) If I can get this going, I can easily see myself upgrading to Alpha by the weekend :D

Hello you dont find threads about this because it is not a common problem.
Of cause most are using 1920x1080.... your 1440p is really a minority

What I would do:
1. SEND a ticket to FD
2. try to use your 1920x1080 display as primary alone and check if full-screen is working with this


P.S. I would like to see a screenshot of ED on the 1440p :D

Weird... I'm running a somewhat similar (though inferior) setup: gtx 660 ti, i5, 8 gigs ram. ED runs great on my 1440p monitor, I tried to mess around with my settings to replicate your problem but no luck.

On a somewhat, sort of related theme I have a 1920x1200 monitor (HP LP2465) with a 680GTX card. When setting the ED graphics for the monitors native resolution the graphics have a partially zomed in effect and I lose the bottom, top and side edges of the UI i.e. the bottom of the scanner and power distribution graphics go missing.

Only way I've managed to get around it is to use the 1920x1080 screen resolution option in the graphics settings. Text is a little wonky but otherwise I get the full cockpit image now.

Edit: I believe it's a known issue in 1.1 with 16:10 monitors, the getaround for which is to use the nearest 16:9 resolution option.

So, I got it working late last night. Re-enabled my 1080 display, changed the settings to use secondary display full screen. Worked fine. Changed settings back to use primary display at 1440 resolution and it's been OK so far.

StefanosA - I will get you that screenshot when I get home from work ;)
Bob_H - I noticed when running 1920x1200 windowed, I had the same issue that you were describing.

I'm going to upgrade to Alpha access when I get home from work today, at which point I'll run through a clean install and see if I can replicate the issue. If so, I'll make a ticket for it.

I'm blown away with this game, it's made me feel like I was 13-14 again, playing First Encounters. Amazing :D

Then you are 10 year younger them most of us (original ELITE veterans....) :D

If Alpha 1.1 makes you feel blown away...... Alpha 3.4 and the Coriolis details will shoot you to the moon.....:D:D

Spoke too soon, it's back to not playing nice - with either monitor! I'll keep messing about with it.

On an even sadder note: Ashley from the store was kind enough to e-mail me a discount key for Alpha. However that was over 8 hours ago and it appears to have expired already :( I'll have to wait a bit longer now, the horror!

Same issue here! Cannot fullscreen the client, it always reverts back. Sometimes, it will also change its resolution and put a huge offset on the mouse pointer.

Single monitor 1920*1080, GTX 770.

So a friend and I purchased the game at the exact same time and decided to play next to one another. I'm using two 1920x1080 monitors on 2 HD7970 GHz Editions and he's on a Sager laptop 1920x1080 with a GTX 870 in it.

BOTH of us had this issue. Neither of us are able to full screen.

Thread closed as it is a very old one and was created relating to Alpha 1.1 Single Player mode of Premium Beta early access build.
