PvP Premium Ammo?

Just curious if some, many or most are using premium ammo in PvP?
Pretty significant damage boost for Canon, PA and railguns but GAWD I hate prospecting for raw mats with a passion!

It's not really all that common, as far as I know. It's even frowned upon by some.

My view on it: Keep it out of organized 1v1s, but when it comes to wing battles, smoke 'em if you got 'em.

I have never thought it frowned upon.

But then again reverb cas torps are frowned upon while 10k MJ shields are all the rage, so I'd take that stuff with a pinch of salt.
Imo, if you got it, and if you can spare it, use it.

I always carry it, and if I have to restock mid fight I'll go for it. But I don't roll with it loaded generally as I don't wanna waste the time spent grinding for it, on just anybody or anything.

If I'm in a hot spot looking for PvP, then I'm far more likely to load it up in advance. Almost mandatory when messing with interesting, non meta, small ship builds.

It's a significant advantage that should at the very least be disclosed in organised matches - 30% more damage will let you beat pilots who are up to 30% better than you and are not using them.

Premium Ammo is frowned upon by the better PVP players, its a crutch to the weaker PVP'ers.

Make your own call on the above and where you sit

Especially if you got those cocksure Corvette and Cutter pilots. Burn 'em down!

Lol so much salt

Remind of old days in freelancer when psedo-elite cry about rockets "Cuz they OP and for n00bz". Because no one of them used countermeasures or used march engine disraptors to blow them up

Same was about capital ship on servers with mods. While i was killing capitals on my heavy fighters( 17 minutes of allmost perfect dodges with sliding - Sliding is like FAOFF in elite).

But here i see same old garbage "don't use that, cuz i don't have skill to take it on *cry*. And if you use it i will say everyone including my mother and dog that you a n00b *crying intensifies*"

Whilst I do believe that few or no guys would juice before an arranged match-up in which premium had been agreed (/assumed) to be off the menu, 'organic' PvP is a different question.

I'm willing to bet that, if we could see FDev's data, we'd see premium usage in unarranged PvP encounters at least tripling since 3.0 dropped.

'At least.'

Prem ammo should go away. There is no need for another grind to win feature.

Not to mention, once you grinded engineer modules they are yours forever; premium ammo is a "keep grinding to keep winning" feature - much worse IMHO.

Reminds me of farming mats for Flasks in WoW... *shudders*

I'd settle for an indicator of some sort so I could at least differentiate between my own piloting skills and premium ammo being the reason I got wasted.

Yah, Frontier could implement this easily. The left panel module scan should show the same icons concerning premium as our own right panel does, next to the guns.

Why spend G5 materials on a thing that will not bring me any profit?

Normal ammo for fights materials for rolls thats my rule (synth only first level if needed in the middle of battle is ok)

This is the PvP subforum and in PvP there is no profit.

If you mean for PvE then I agree that there is absolutely no reason to use premium.

They all use it & then say they don't - watch any PvP vid (before the mat storage increase); when they synth, they make a point of using 'basic' but always - surprise, surprise - have stocks of 'premium'...'funny that!

PvP is largely ego driven, remember & apart from being suspicious by the amount of damage inflicted, no-one can be really be sure, hence do you honestly think a min-maxing PvPer who is prepared to get the mats for thousands - in some cases - of G5 rolls for a few extra percentage points, will ignore the chance for 30% extra damage with zero in-game evidence of doing so?

I'll help you with the answer to that one...Hell no!

I used to use it - quite openly, but I'm an emergent PvPer (did I really just say that?) - on my multis after I found out that there was a bug where normal replen at a station would replace the basic ammo with premium if you had it synth'd previously. But now, meh...only the people I mentioned ^ can be bothered to do that because driving the SRV & idiotically, blasting rocks for hours is slightly less than thrilling.

Caveat: There may be one or two who don't out of principle & obviously in the PvP League, for example, there is the checking procedure...which shows they don't trust each other really, either[big grin]! But amongst friends & organised PvP, they probably adhere to the tacit agreement...but against players they dislike & hot-spot randoms, no - the name of the game is to try to get the bragging rights. Anyone who thinks differently is naïve.
