Premium Beta: Only Alpha 2.0 Access on 30 May? (Really???)

I'm confused about this:

Currently these are set as follows.

Alpha Phases 1.0 started December 2013 (£200) includes expansion pass
Alpha Phase 2.0 started 4th Feb 2014 (£200) includes expansion pass
Alpha Phase 3.4 started 28th March 2014 (£200) includes expansion pass
Alpha access to cease 25th April 2014.
Alpha pre premium beta testing to start approx mid May 2014
Premium Beta Single Player started on the 10th April 2014.
Premium Beta Multiplayer due 30th May 2014.

What does the highlighted bit refer to?

Alpha 2.0 was called 'multiplayer'. So do Premium Beta Backers get Alpha 2.0 on 30 May? Or do we get the full Beta (i.e. the same thing that Alpha backers get on mid-May)?

That says multiplayer just to distinguish it from the single player above it.

What they've said is that the Beta starts on May 30th. Being the start of Beta that means it can't be an old Alpha build, simple as that. We don't know what exactly will be in that build but it'll be what's in Alpha 4 at the very least

Here are some quotes from the Premium Beta Access update thread by Mark Boss:

The full Premium Beta will start on 30th of May 2014, and until then, players will be able to practise with a single player combat build.

Some words from Frontier CEO, David Braben looking at the progress so far and the move to Beta :

“I want to take this opportunity to thank all those who have played such an important role in Alpha testing, and I’m very happy that we will continue to benefit from their valuable input as they test Beta builds approximately 2 weeks in advance of release.
On the 30th of May we move into a new phase of Premium Beta testing with an increasingly complete game, and I’m delighted to be able to welcome a significant numbers of new players to Elite: Dangerous today.”

Hope that clears things up.

We are still in Alpha & Beta released earlier. Some people forget and consider Beta a finished product.

Then perhaps some Sticky reminders are in order. Something simple like "Beta does not equal Gamma, which does not equal retail" or something similar. :)

That would be great if we could get an update every two weeks, just to get us up to speed before the beta comes out for us. That is.
