Horizons Prepare for epic faction imbalance

I'll keep this short and sweet because that's a rare thing on the forums sometimes.

Deployable fighters. Hot topic.

Recent imp/fed CGs. Big topic.

Feds are winning these CGs. Imps aren't getting much of a payout, if a payout at all. People are joining the fed side, even if their in-game RP preference is Empire, because they want them sweet CG credits.

Feds get a gunship. That has a fighter bay. But if you want one on an imp ship, I hope you have the credits and time for the most expensive ship, rank locked, in the whole game.

Feds are about to get a whole lot more loving than the imps.

I have no side bias here at all when I ask...safe to dismiss all future competitive CGS as won by the feds?

1. I just read a post that claimed the Gunship was not getting fighters. You are claiming the opposite. Do you have a link?

2. I've been playing this game for almost a year. The number of times I saw anyone fly a gunship I can count on one hand. The Clipper on the other hand is very popular. If you think the Gunship is so great then feel free to rank up and buy one - just dont be surprised when you are disappointed with the ship.

And since we are comparing Fed to Empire bias here, lets compare who gets what

Empire - Imperial Eagle (fastest ship in the game); Federation - Nothing that is comparable

Empire - Imperial Courier (one of the fastest ships in the game, great shields, excellent agility, looks awesome and flies like an F-15 in space) ; Federation - Nothing that is comparable

Empire - Clipper (fastest large ship in the game, great fighter and trader, and looks fantastic); Federation - Assault ship (Ugly box shaped design, combat duty only, 15% slower than a Clipper), Dropship (useless), Gunship (useless)

Empire - Cutter (best shield tank ship and money maker in the game); Federation - Corvette (Best Offensive ship in the game, but only if your idea of offensive involves two huge guns)

The way I see it, the Empire has the Federation beat 4 to 2 when it comes to ship choices.

As far as winning the CG, it works the same way for both sides. People are free to join one or both sides. If more people were to join the empire side then they would win.
The question to ask is "Why are more people joining the Feds than the Imperials"?

The Feds had a very early headstart in all three competing CGs of the last month. That drew a lot of independents on their side.

The mechanic of competing systems is in dire need of improving though, I agree there.

It's not a question, gunships get fighters. Was on the live stream and has always been accepted the gunship has a fighter bay. Take a look at the ship model if it pleases you.

It hasn't been popular until now, but it's going to be. Feds get a lot of love over the 'vette and FAS as a combat ship. Not nearly as many like the iClipper/iCutter. I have a second test account and know exactly how it flies. Not disappointed, I just know not to dogfight with it or sit in the middle of them pitches, 'cos you'll go home crying. FA Off, boost strafe, reverse. Keep them in your sights and the evasion comes from battering them so hard their faces fall off instantly.

It's actually nice to see some love for the imps, especially because though I didn't mention it I am an Empire player. The iClipper is my main ship and in PvP I will fly an iCourier frequently - I know the boons of the Empire ships, but it's also true you have to work to git gud at flying them, whereas the Fed's FAS has a small cult following given it flies easily out the box with no effort or real thought needed to get into a RES and pitch a bit to hammer out a few low-grade enemies.

So I am sorry, the general population prefers the Feds if not for the FAS and the 'vette for the RP aspect or that most of the good parts of the bubble are around the feds.

As for the CGs, partially because of the above, Feds are pulling out the easy wins atm. Early lead, early influx of neutral/alliance/some empire supporters because of the monies. It's that simple. Regardless of ship views, giving the gunship and 'vette the fighters but the Imps no ships outside the cutter that can do this will hurt the Imps.

How would you improve it? You would still have to deal with the fact that one side would get more supporters than the other and win the CG.

Its good to see some love for the Clipper on these forums.
I can only speak for myself, but I support the Federation only because of my past invovlement in PP. The ships I fly are like collectibles to me and I choose them based on much more than simply who makes them. I would work to get them no matter which faction offered them so I guess my perspective is a little different. Let us see how strong the SLFs are before we complain that they are game changers.

Make the CGs exclusive to each other, enforce a cooldown on signing off one CG and signing on to another, hide the progress bars. :)

I wish we had faction lock from the get go right when you spawn. Then everyone from opposing factions will be red to each other. It'll at least make Open Play, CGs, BGS a more meaningful and exciting place, won't solve the faction imbalance much but we could put on a recruitment "limit". Well of course the rest will hide in their tiny universe of solo or faction aligned private servers.
