"Prepare to be boarded!"

I for one, would love to be able to board a defeated enemy ship. Carefully docking with the enemy vessel, I'd walk through the airlock using my trusty space legs. I'll walk among the terrified crew, enter the damaged bridge, walk up to the defeated yet seething enemy Commander, who knows that one wrong move would result in my trusty NPC Pilot opening fire on his power core.

I'll look the Commander in the eye and say:

"I'll have that!"

...and reach out my hand and take his Material Box full of goodies. And while I'm at it, his Trade Data too. [haha]

If they behave, and if I've had a cup of Java, I might even let them leave. In one piece.

So, Frontier, if you could have all that ready for 3.1, thanks. [up][smile]

Yes, I think it would be great to hack another player airlock and access their ship from my SRV when on planet. For science obviously......

If you interdict NPCs I think one of the messages they send is along the lines of "any attempt at boarding this vessel will be met with stiff resistance". I lost the screenshot of that, but I do wonder if that'll be something in the game we could do one day...Sigh.

I too have been dreaming of the day i could do this since i played FFE. I wana bord derelicts too and explore ground bases and steal data and rare valuable stuffs from under peoples bunk beds..

However.. get redy for half the comunity to tell you your wrong and atmospheres are more important and space leggs will never happen and if it did they would never alow such things. Because pvp is bad mmm kay.

Well first you'll need your hatch scanner limpet, then your manifest scanner scanner, then your airlock breaker limpet, and by the way you won't be boarding, it will be a telepresence holoprojection of you in one of the bridge chairs and you'll have to be invited to pirate through multicrew, then you'll need a material IF hot material washer, then you'll need to clean all of your other materials because they got hot in the process...

Yeah - nice idea but this is beyond FDEV.

!BOOM!

Sir, we're in, and on the bridge, but there doesn't appear to be anyone on board.

How can that be? They're hiding.

Yes sir, but the ship appears to be run by the computer. It's the only thing speaking.

Speaking? Let me hear.

GET OUT OF THERE!

GET OUT!!!!!!
2...1...NO, YOU CAN'T HAZ MY STUFF...ZERO.

Of course, that voice would have to be something sounding like Jim Ignatowski to have full effect, but I like the idea.

Well, if they've just boarded, then i'm going to assume they've taken over the computer, so could disable any self-destruct request.

What I would expect to happen is your friendly neighborhood ganker drop into the instance while people are waddling around the enemy ship, having conversations and drinking coffee.
...pen rails to the power plant... BOOM!

Soooo much this.

Space legs for the win... diddiley diddiley!

Alternative scenario - immobilising a ship (human or npc) they refuse to open airlocs, so you go in a combat space suit and cut a hole in the side of the ship through which to board / vent their atmosphere and or corpses.

The very first question I asked as part of the ED forums back in 2014 was about passenger missions and if they would be in the game. The conversation then turned to boarding passenger ships and holding them hostage.

I'd still love to see that one day.

If so, then we need Engineering for the ship's computers to include an anti-tampering, biometrically-activated failsafe to trigger detonation.

Either that, or the ability to switch off life-support, go on emergeny oxygen and vent the entire ship into space, where we can then come about, target the would-be boarders and fire on them like unwanted escape pods - or ever so gently collect them on our hulls for a visit to the local star for a fuel-scoop and pirate-roast.
