"Preparing for Update" - then sits for 20 minutes

So i've thus far tried to tell the client (original client EDLauncher, not steam) to update to the latest patch.

It just sits there. Does nothing. Says preparing for update.

Tried closing it down, restarting , telling it to update Elite Dangerous instead of Horizons , same issues. Rebooted the PC, uninstalled and reinstalled the launcher, and all to no avail.

Any other technical suggestions appreciated.

some suggestions
temp disabling anti virus an firewall to rule out prime suspects
in the launcher options try disabling the cache
try setting windows internet options to default
try a fresh launcher http://hosting.zaonce.net/elite/Client-Installer.exe
and a suck eggs one ensure roomy target drive

I just wait usually and it works most of the time......just ensure your power saving options don’t shut your p.c. down!

oh yea and waiting longer sometimes the launcher does appear to stall but hasnt

Open Task Manager, processes tab and sort by CPU. If EDLaunch.exe is working you will see that. It took over half an hour for my "upgrade" to finish.
