Community Event / Creation Preproduction Question

I am considering putting together a bit of a Role Play Video series where I star as my CMDR. It would be a Commander's Logbook style. I am looking for some feedback for what would be expected as far as production values.

First, would you expect extreme differences in amenities between most ships (Not Saul Krueger or Gutamaya as I don't own them, but the other manufacturers would be included as I own those ships)?

Second, do you think a flight suit alone would be the correct uniform or would a plain t-shirt (or one with a manufacturer's logo from the frontier store) and shorts be acceptable for the "Independent Contractor" type of CMDR?

Third, what topics would interest the community? What should he discuss? Should there be Space Madness?

I appreciate the feedback, I am still going to end up being a few months away from entering production but if and when it happens I will be sure to loop the community in.

Sounds interesting! Good luck! I look forward to seeing it!

Extreme differences? Me, not so much. It think it would be nice to see some noticeable differences, but based on what I've seen in-game, nothing needs to be taken to extremes. But you might want to experiment a bit anyway just to see how it looks.

This is an interesting question as I've often asked myself the same question: do Cmdrs live in their flight suits or not? Based on what we see in the game, the answer would seem to be in the affirmative. [smile] I think lore-wise, that would be the best approach. But whatever you do, DON'T go with the t-shirt and shorts look. I hate that bland, sloppy style. For me, Elite will always have a film noir quality to it, and film noir was about sharp dressers regardless of their profession. If I were to do a vid, if my commander wasn't in a flight suit, he would be in a blazer with a collared shirt and french cuffs. :)

I always thought it was be interesting to hear thoughts on the loneliness of being a pilot, of travelling alone in the vast darkness. Also, I have always imagined being a commander in Elite could be a claustrophobic experience. With the exception of the cavernous flight decks of the large space stations, I suspect living in space much be like being a submariner: you are going from one tightly enclosed space to another.

I appreciate the feedback, I am still going to end up being a few months away from entering production but if and when it happens I will be sure to loop the community in.

Looking forward to seeing this come to life!

I'm not too sure that a lone explorer would be dapperly dressed while in their cockpit or quarters. I don't quite know where you are getting the "Film Noir" style cues from to be honest. I've pretty much settled on the flight suit. I will probably go with a black backdrop instead of a green screen to save on post production work. If it gets more popular then perhaps I could justify spending more time on production.

At this point I am writing logs to use and working from my own actual gameplay as well. Now that we know we have a few weeks before 2.4 comes out, I will probably go exploring out to SagA. Perhaps to Beagle Point after that. Then bring it in to Colonia. If there is still time left by then, maybe a Hutton Orbital Run. Check all those fun boxes. Perhaps I will get enough scan data to sell and get my T-9 Mining vessel going.
