Primates we'd like to "cover the bases"

I still can't believe how few primates there are in-game. Smithsonian alone has 3 lemur species at the Lemur Island, 2 great apes at the Great Ape House, 2 old-world monkeys at the Think Tank, 1 gibbon at the Gibbon Ridge, and 5 new world monkeys plus another lemur at the Small Mammal House. There are more examples of every primate group in the game at this singular zoo (excluding great apes) and I find that baffling.

Ideal layout would be:

1. Hamadryas baboon--the most popularly-requested monkey and a good bolster to Middle East/desert roster. Could be the gelada as well.
2. Lar gibbon or siamang--a gibbon of course, and these are the two most popular and most common in zoos.
3. Mantled guereza -- very common and recognizable zoo monkey
4. Golden lion tamarin -- recognizable New World monkey, common in zoos, conservation value
5. Black howler -- one more New World monkey, common in zoos, popular wishlist animal
6. Lion-tailed macaque -- unique Indian monkey, common in EAZA zoos but disappearing from AZA
7. Coquerel's sifaka -- limited but growing captive presence, recognizable from Zoboomafoo, would be a guaranteed new rig due to its unique movement
8. Tufted capuchin -- easy clone in place of an exhibit animal.

IMO, if we're to get any new primates, these ones are the most necessary because of their unique rigs and animations

  • A gibbon.
  • A (true) baboon (Papio).
  • Another common New World monkey. (Howler or Spider)
  • A tropical African monkey. (I'd prefer colobus)
  • A unique south Asian monkey.
  • A sifaka.
  • Aye-aye
  • A tamarin/marmoset that could still fit in a habitat.
Good choose, I think we need 4 for this packs and release them ones a year to cover the primates. Hey I want to build a monkey house. I think Tamarin/ Marmoset should be in exhibit but maybe a taller and wider exhibit.

Made some changes. I sincerely hope Frontier can make this pack a reality. I'd literally pay one of the artists directly to make them.

Tho of I could do that, I'd try and get as much money as possible to commission a 20 animal pack for everyone

I think that we need, at minimum, three more primates; a howler monkey, a spider monkey, and a baboon/gelada.

I will stick with what I've said previously; they need about 12-18 monkeys to get decent variety. As far as I can recall, every zoo I've ever attended has housed at least 3 different varieties of monkeys, excluding apes (well-covered), baboons (still needed), and lemurs (no more necessary, but still welcome). Also, they didn't overlap much. There are several community favorites from around the world that would create this variety. I would really like for the Golden Lion Tamarin and Red Shanked Douc to be included, but apart from that, I mostly want a good spread of continents, morphologies, and colors. If I try to build a zoo with a realistic roster, the lack of monkeys is a bit immersion breaking. For me, it's even worse than the lack of variety in grounded or flightless birds.

Minimum:
Baboon
African Monkey
Howler
Spider
Squirrel
Something from India (Grey langur or Rhesus Macaque, maybe?)
Golden Snub Nosed

Oh IMHO, I'd legit kill someone for a proper 20 primate pack

If I could totally have my way, I'd add...

  1. Aye-aye
  2. Black-headed spider monkey
  3. Black howler
  4. Celebes crested macaque
  5. Collared mangabey
  6. Common squirrel monkey
  7. Coquerel's sifaka
  8. Cotton-top tamarin
  9. De Brazza's monkey
  10. Golden lion tamarin
  11. Golden snub-nosed monkey
  12. Gray mouse lemur
  13. Hamadryas baboon
  14. Lar gibbon
  15. Lion-tailed macaque
  16. Mantled guereza
  17. Northern plains gray langur
  18. Pygmy marmoset
  19. Vervet monkey
  20. White-faced saki

Personally, i would be satisfied with just 5 more monkeys, eventhough more would allways be appreciated.
The species themself arnt that important for me, aslong its roughly in the lines of:
  • 2 Monkeys from the americas with preferably atleast one of them being a tamarin
  • 1 African monkey
  • 1 Asian main land monkey
  • 1 Random one

If i could choose the species aswell, i think i would take the black howler monkey, Cotton Top tamarin, De Brazas Monkey, Gray Hulman, any Baboon, with the runner ups being the Emperor Tamarin, Mantled Guereza, Lion Tailed Macaque and the Sulawesi Crested Macaque

For me there are two primate/monkey species that I really still want. Mantled guereza and Spider Monkey.

The mantled guereza because of it's unique mantle and the spider monkey because of it's unique way of locomotion.

I will update my list of needed primates.

Must:
1. Baboon
2. Tamarin
3. Nocturnal primate (Loris/Galago/Aye Aye)

Good:
4. Spider/howler monkey
5. African tropical monkey (guereza/diana monkey)
6. Indian monkey (Langur/macaque)

Nice to have:
7. More lemurs
8. More gibbons

I think in general we need:
1. An african arboreal monkey (my choice of course is the black and white colobus monkey)
2. A savannah primate (my prefered choice would be the vervet or patas monkey but the olive baboon is also an option)
3. An Indian primate (lion tailed macaque being my preference, but the hanuman langur is also iconic)
4. South american primates: howler and spider monkeys, golden lion tamarin and squirrel monkey. Of course that something like saki or uakaris would be cool but i think those four are essential to complete the latin american primate roster.
5. Baboons: the ones missing are the hamadryas baboon (which will give representation to the Middle East) and the Geleda baboon (which i prefer over the other mostly because of its unique biome and behaviour). But having both is also good in my list, i just think that i prefer more tropical primates over baboons and with just one i'll be fine
6. Golden snub nosed monkey (just cause i really like them, they are in my top 5 primates i want for the game and is a monkey with a particular biome as well, which would give more variety)
7. Lemurs: i think the sifaka and the aye-aye are the ones missing
8. Gibbons: i don't think is essential to get another gibbon but a lar or white cheecked gibbon would be welcome (just not yet, maybe give the spotlight to other primates that need it more first)
9. Nocturnal primates: loris, tarsiers and galagos basically (my choice would be a loris, but a creepy tarsier is also interesting although they are maybe to small for working as a habitat animal)

Then there are a bunch of primates would be cool to have just because of their striking appearence like the red-shanked douc, the golden langur, the red colobus monkey, de brazza's monkey, the emperor tamarin, the francois langur, bald uakari, white faced saki, mouse lemurs... but they are not priorities.
