General / Off-Topic Prince is dead

I don't think it has anything to do with a faulty moral compass.

I can pretty much guarantee that no-one in this thread knows anyone involved in those unspeakably horrible events the article mentions.

But some people in here have had some of Prince's music as a small part of their lives so there is a connection however remote. We talk about it because it registers with us in some way or other to a greater or lesser degree. Obviously stuff that happens to celebrities is going to hog the news.

The events in the article are reported but they are so off the scale horrible that most of us probably can barely process what's happened and would probably rather not even think about it. I don't think it has anything to do with people not caring or having a faulty moral compass - whatever that is supposed to actually mean. It's just too extreme and too remote and too beyond the control of people in the locality nevermind people on the other side of the world.

happens all over the place all day everyday and most of the time there is sod all we can do about it.

In an ideal world none of this crap would happen, regrettably the ideal world is full of not ideal people.

Yes you are right. And there is also a certain form of idolatry in our societies, concerning the celebrities

Another one of these Celeb types stealing the show from our dear Queen, (Gawd bless 'er).

The influential Congolese musician Papa Wemba has died aged 66 after collapsing during a concert.
Footage from the show in Ivory Coast showed him slumped on stage. His dancers, unaware of what was happening, continued to perform before rushing to his aid.
In a career spanning almost half a century, Wemba became known as the "the king of Congolese rumba".
He was also a style icon, popularising the cult movement known as the Sapeurs.

I lost my cat last year. He was not rich, not famous. But I know that I have infinitely more sadness and pain, that for all the celebrities of the world. One year after his death, he is always omnipresent in my memory and in my heart. Contrary to all these celebrities that I forget a few days after their deaths. Rest in peace my dear cat ... and the celebrities also

:)

I share your pain mate. We lost 3 of our feline companions in the space of 15 months.
Amber was approaching 23yrs of age and only had to be destroyed because of an accident.
Pinky was 17 years of age and had a cancerous growth that obstructed her mouth and had to be destroyed.
Silver was only about 8 years old poisoned and placed by some kind person on our doorstep.

We only have Jack and the 2 girls left.
They live with you for a long time and embed themselves in your hearts and minds, it really hurts when you lose them.

Best Wishes.

It's a matter of record that our dear Queen has personally witnessed non celeb types literally pile into and bounce off the earth in various states of disrepair owing to a misjudgement of the length of a vine tied round their legs whilst diving off a makeshift tower.

So I think it's reasonable to assume that she would be unfazed by the idea of someone she has almost certainly never heard of being reported as keeling over on stage.

That said I have no doubt she would spare a sympathetic thought for Papa Wemba's family and friends - as would any reasonably minded individual.

At least he died doing something he enjoyed - RIP Papa Wemba!

Seems this silly fellow stayed awake for over 150 hours prior to his inevitable death.

Frankly, if this is true then is death was either a typically bizarre suicide or the actions of someone so utterly stupid, for whatever reason, that he lacked the common sense no to do it.

For a man in his early 20s, this would have been suicide. At the very least, for a young man, it would have resulted in permanent mental impairment. Most likely a schizo-dementia.

For a man of 57.....!

Not an artist, so dedicated to his craft, ect. After 30+ hours his 57 yo faculties would have been so impaired he would hardly have been capable.

This is another spoilt American paying second rate Drs too much to supply them with drugs which killed them.

Music icon Prince was “preparing to die for a little while” after being diagnosed with AIDS, according to reports in the US.

A music industry source interviewed by The National Enquirer messaged friends on April 19 to say the singer was suffering from the disease.

“He was in bad shape,” the source claimed to the newspaper, as reported by Radar Online.

“Doctors told Prince his blood count was unusually low and that his body temperature had dropped dangerously below the normal 98.6 degrees to 94 degrees.

“He was totally iron-deficient, very weak and often disoriented.

Prince was suffering from AIDS before being found dead last week and had refused treatment because he believed he could be cured by prayer, it has been claimed.
The Purple Rain singer, who was a Jehovah's Witness, was diagnosed with the crippling condition just six months before he passed away, sources told the National Enquirer.
The 57-year-old weighed just 80lbs by the time of his death and had been 'preparing to die for a little while', the supermarket tabloid says sources told it.

Prince died of AIDS and had been preparing for his death "for a while," it has been reported.

The Purple Rain singer, a Jehovan's Witness, was diagnosed with the condition six months before his sudden death, according to the National Enquirer.

The singer "had been preparing to die for a while," and his weight had plummeted to just 80lbs, a source told the American tabloid.

"Doctors told Prince his blood count was unusually low and that his body temperature had dropped dangerously below the normal 98.6 degrees to 94 degrees," they said.

"He was totally iron-deficient, very weak and often disoriented. He rarely ate and when he did, it all came right back up.
