Ship Builds & Load Outs Priority Health & Cargo Hatch

Quick questions (and I apologize if this is in the wrong forum). I've looked on the Wiki and across Reddit. I want to make sure I am understanding this all correctly. I am 8000LY away from the bubble. I've had my kids and my wife ask me questions a number of times and hyperjumped to close to stars because of it. I am running a passenger mission out to the belt. My plan is to head through Colonia first for repairs, especially after this.

Shields are down to 97%. Passengers are still happy. However my Cargo Hatch is down to 25%. Questions are as follows:

1) If cargo hatch reaches 0 will my passengers be ejected as anything in the Cargo Bay would be should that happen?

2) If I set Priority Health to say 1 etc, while I understand that works on how things get shut down during heating and power issues, will this change the rate of damage to these sections as well? For example if question one is a yes, can I change the Cargo Hatch to a Priority 1 to try and decrease the damage dealt should this happen again?

Any more of these mistakes and I feel like I am going to fail this mission. I still have about the same distance I have already traveled to Colonia.

Don't know if it'll make a difference but try powering the cargo hatch down completely it only needs to be powered up for collecting mats/cargo and mining, the other possibility is the reboot-repair sequence but I reckon that's a last resort as I've no idea what the passengers would do (jump ship?) during boost repair.

As I understand it (and I could be wrong) you use Priority levels to determine which modules get power should there be power issues (and this is not a health related thing). For example, I have set the FSD to level 5 (as, if I am in combat, I am not going to be able to use it with the hardpoints deployed), but shields and thrusters are at level 1.

You can't do anything to preserve it other than keep your heat down and not crash into stars.

If it has got to 25% and you still have passengers then my guess is they won't be ejected. Normally you start losing cargo at 80%.

That is my understanding as well, but I was hopeful. Oh well, thank you.

Really? Good to know. I wasn't aware. I have only ever done cargo runs once or twice. Thanks!
