Ships Prismatic shield results

I earned access to Prismatic Shields last week. On my T9 cargo hauler I replaced a standard 5A shield that was reinforced to level 5 with HI cap experimental and 4 resistance shield boosters with a 5A Prismatic engineered to level 5 reinforced with HI cap and 4 heavy duty shield boosters with super capacitors and it tripled my absolute shield strength with a loss of only 0.5 LY in my jump range. I would say that it was definitely worth the grind to get the Prismatic shields.

You can put fast charge as a special effect, which increases charge rate by 20%, but if they get really low, a reboot/restart will bring them up to 50%
Yeah, good arent they, but they take ages to regenerate. Whats the best additional eng/unit to help speed that up?
Good tip as well if your shield is down, deactivate any shield boosters, it will lower the 50% value and your shield will come up quicker.
Activate them back after it comes up, and the more pips you put in system the quicker the shield will recharge.
When shield is up you can throw a few Shield Cells to speed up charging if you have any, don't forget to use heat-sink too or you'll overheat !

good to know about shutting down the shield boosters o7! I was wondering why my shield recharge was taking so long when it got low during the last CG (after I had stacked a couple more boosters on my fdl for added shield strength).

Prismatic on a T-9...

Why would anyone even care about regen rate?
Regen rate for me on this T9 is not an issue. I use the ship as a cargo hauler during Community Goals so it only has to be able to escape an interdiction. I never turn and fight in this ship.

Yeah, Prismatics are great for when you want jus load of capacity but, eapion the big ships the recharge time is well, let's just say it's faster to jump to another system and dock than to wait.

As an example, without reboot/repair, my PvE Corvette will take just over 13 minutes to restore sheilds and then another 45 minutes to go from 50% to 100%.

you are now the prismatic shields expert ...only ELITELY HARMLESS like us can be in awe

There are some drawbacks to prismatic shields.
Firstly. Their regeneration rate. It sucks.
Then the weight! Prismatics are heavy.
And finally their power consumption. About 3 times as much as biweaves.

Having just 1 pip regens the same as 4 pips. Unfortunately. Same for any shields. 2 or more pips just adds to the resilience of the shields. So 4 pips in shields will take longer to wear down than 1 pip.
This applys to all shield types.
Hope that helps.

Prismatics work good with Enhanced Low Power mod on large ships in a ‚cold build‘. Reduced heat, weight and power consumption and shield strength is usually better than in a A-rated normal shield generator with Reinforced mod.

I have a Cutter, 7A low emissions PP, armed, 6A prismatic with 2100 Mjs shields that idles at 14% heat.
