Prismatics Timescale

So, after playing through since 1984 I decided to try some prismatics. I signed up with Aisling and worked for rank 2 because I could. Unfortunately I signed up on a Saturday not a Weds or Thurs so this week I will be showing pledged for 2 weeks and 5 days. On Sat it will show 3 weeks. Do I go for the 750 after tomorrow (Thurs) or leave it till next week when it will show 3 weeks and 5 days?

The shields become available on the first Thursday that follows the day you complete 4 weeks pledged. In your case, best to work during the weekend you complete 4 weeks.

If you want them ASAP just earn the 750 merits any time after being pledged for 3 weeks - then after the next Thursday server tick you'd be rank 3 but still 3 weeks x days pledged. Then after the 4 week anniversary the Prismatics would become available, I think it's even the same time of day as the original pledge. So if I pledged at 5pm on Saturday that's when the Prismatics would suddenly be available (may have needed a relog, can't remember). Only until the following Thursday tick of course, unless merits were topped up to stay rank 3.

I have read that many times but I am more of a swap between ships guy so I reckon 4 or 6 at the most. 1x8 (Cutter), 1x7 ('Vette or Conda), 2x6 (Python and Krait2) for sure and maybe 1x4 and 1x5 for stock. Not sure why I would need more?
Also they all need to be engineered and to buy the first 4 would be around 370m credits plus finding lots of materials. In fairness though there are lots of areas around Cubeo at the moment with lots of Conductive Polymer and especially Improvised Components. Lots of HGE's seemingly everywhere.
Some say buy 3 of each to be sure, that's 1.07 BILLION credits and materials for 24 Prismatic engineering. I can afford that easily but being from Yorkshire it makes me sweat just thinking about it!!..........LOL

To clarify:

A cmdr ranks up on the Thursday ticks, and needs to be rank 3 to get the prismatics. The prismatics can be purchased starting 4 weeks after pledging... which lines up based on whatever day they pledged, not the Thursday tick. But they must be rank 3 to make the purchase. So 4 weeks after pledging, as long as they are rank 3, they can make the purchase, even if that day lands on a Sunday.

If the cmdr remains pledged beyond 4 weeks, whenever they reach rank 3 on the Thursday tick the shields will become available for purchase for that week.
