"Pristine" Asteroids

How do you know if a cluster or ring is "pristine?" where is that information displayed?

On system map. Under ring information on left side. You have to do detailed planet scan to see info if planet is not explored

In the system map, if an asteroid belt has been properly scanned, it will indicate in the information panel at the left what level of reserves it has. And when you do find asteroid belts that have been properly scanned, you can raise your glass to serious explorers like myself; many 'explorers' don't feel asteroids are even worth their time due to Universal Cartographics not paying a premium for that data.

So do I need a detailed surface scanner to find the reserve level? Because right now I'm in some quaternary star system I stumbled across. No previous information to go on as far as I can tell.
