Yeah, this is the kind of info that has value. Also why I check out the asteroid groups when exploring.
Have you tried entering your post title into a google search bar? You might be surprised.
As an explorer I have come across lots of them, the problem is then getting the metals back to sell...
There are lots of them, more so along the fringes of populated space. Search the galaxy map - will not take you long to find them. As said, the populated systems along the fringes have them.

I don't have a belt, but I find that bounty hunting is far, far more lucrative and generally easier. I have a place that I will keep top secret because on an average day, I usually get a clipper or dropship as first target, then they are followed immediately by more clippers and dropships, plus pythons and anacondas. I can pull in about 4,000,000 in an hour with a vulture and a kill scanner.
LOL really? The diamondback has no internal compartments to do that efficently... not to mention it has NO cargo Space to do this either! haha you are new to this game right?

Y'see, that was my masterplan for the Asp. Kitted it out with mining laser, lots of cargo, best refineries that money could buy, and an A-class FSD and went exploring. I only got about 150Ly or so before I had a decent amount of Silver and other metals and some rarer minerals. Not 80T worth, but about 30 or 40 maybe, so I thought I would head for home and sell the stuff and my exploration data (maybe about 1MCr worth, based upon similar trips)
As soon as I was within about 40Ly of populated space, my radar started to fill up with NPCs. Check modules. 4D Thrusters. No shields. Interdiction. Escape. Interdiction. Some damage. Escape.
Why? Oh, because it looks as though NPCs have a 6th sense about cargo I think. I finally got blown up by a Clipper.
So exploraminathoning takes more than an exploring ship with a couple of modules. Think tough!
I know one where I mine...5 metallic pristine rings...1 outpost.... Problem is that is Anarchy so you better be ready to defend yourself...you get attacked every 10mins or so
16T of Pannite (Assuming a DB with shields) would equal a profit of up to 627,000+ It could get out and back in a single gaming session and be able to defend itself reasonably well along the way.
A mining Wing with a T-9 as part of the group could make over 13 million in a single trip.
I've been playing long enough to be able to ignore the more ignorant posts.
You do realize that almost any other ship does that more profitable
hence your comment adding in a T-9Even a Cobra does this WAY more profitable than the diamondback!!!!!

2 for fuel scoop
3 for refinery
4 for cargo, max 8 tons
Where do you get 16 tons? Dropping shields? Bad idea. Deep space without a scanner? Bad idea. Mining vessel without collection drones? Shoot me in the head please!
