Pristine Rings No Longer Pristine?

Checking for mining of Osmium and Bromellite and found they're in pristine rings only.

Went to http://edtools.ddns.net/index.php to check for stars that have planets with pristine rings and found an odd thing: Many of the gas giants that were listed as having pristine rings no longer have that status. Checking with "CUBEO" as the starting point, first checked HIP 87414 AB7, listed as pristine, map indicates metal rich but longer indicates pristine status. Found a huge number of listings in Google as well for YAN MUSU planet 8 but same condition; no longer pristine. Also checked HIP 87968, same thing, planet listed as, but no longer.

Do they lose the pristine status after other people have gotten their muddy space boots all over the rings after a while?

Just to be clear, does it show some other "reserves" value like major or common? Or does it not show anything at all?

If it's the latter (reserves level not showing in system map) I believe they are still pristine, there's just a bug with that value not being visible. Also, if you can see the value for any body in the system (be it ring, asteroid cluster or planet) you can assume it to be the same for everything else in that system.

As far as I can tell, there's no reference to the words "pristine" or "reserves" of any kind in any of the rings I was checking (no "major" or "common" as far as I can tell).

I zapped over 3 dozen different sections of rings in the few systems I was checking (outer, middle, inner areas) and got lots of metals (I'm going back to Yan Musu 8 later since it IS a good mining area, lots of good stuff to be found there) but just not the items I was looking for.

I remember a CG for Osmium in Colonia when the place got started and the planet nearby was listed in the map as "pristine", and yes, lots of Osmium was found there so I know the word itself should be on the map describing the rings. This might have been removed during some of the recent updates so they might still be pristine, just not advertised that way. I was getting every juicy thing I could get except the two items I was looking for. That's why I was wondering if the "pristine" status goes away after something's been mined to death or not.

Also now I realize that you might be confusing the reserves level (pristine) with ring type (metallic, metal rich, rocky, ice). I don't think you can ever find osmium and bromellite at the same place as osmium is found in metallic rings while bromellite is in ice rings.

As far as I know the "pristine" description only influences how much stuff you can mine from a single asteroid, not which type you can find.

Edit: Just realised I could have used the system map from HIP 87414 instead, since you mentioned it specifically:

Did you detail surface scan the planet with the rings?
This.
Confused me for a while that one. When I bought the system data, I thought I'd bought the system data. But they hold back the reserve status.

Negative. Using Yan Msu planet 8 as an example, this is already exploited and listed so the system data should be there. I'm going back there for more mining anyway so I'll re-check in case I just blundered over it.

Yes, possible, Achibot posted an image pointing out where the word was listed in red a post or two after you. Serves me right for picking a "go mine stuff for us" mission. I usually don't do those.

Oh well, thanks for the help in clearing up that mess. [blah]

....and I must have just run right over that info. Must need new glasses. I'm old (can I use that as an excuse??). :D

Just this once... unless you have dementia - in which case, any time you want. :p
