Newcomer / Intro Private Data Beacons inside wreckage?

When you drop into some Degraded Emissions Signal Sources there is wreckage in there with a Private Data Beacon. It's attached, to or placed inside, the wreckage so it's not scoopable. Is there anything I can do with this? I can't seem to scan it. But it looks like I receive a message in the Comm Panel. What is the significance of this? Did I collect some data? Thanks.

Scan it. Just point your ship at it, like with nav beacons or other ships.

Nice things could be found there. It's my primary source of Specialized legacy firmware, for example.

Funny, I was wondering the same just 30 minutes ago.

Guess you found it already, but the results from the scan can be found in your inventory under "Data". It looks like something engineers will use.

Exactly! And some really rare stuff can be found there. Definitely a lucky find, every time

Indeed, I was able to scan one of these and data has been added. I don't know why I thought I could not scan them. Thanks a lot :)

Yup, firmware data is needed for some upgrades.

And they're seem to be always Threat 0 so safe to jump into.

Not always safe to jump into BTW..
Ive been in a few of these Threat 0 when some NPCs have appeared
saying something like "I dont believe they fell for that" or similar dialogue..
just beware ;)

^^ yep. I can confirm that. It doesn't happen often (it happened to me three or four times) but it can be a trap.
