Private Groups?

Sorry if this has been discussed to death, but upon a cursory search of the forum I was unable to find a thread dealing with the omission of private groups. Are we going to see them on Xbox? I truly hope so. They are one of the main reason I, and my mates, picked up the game. A way to play together without having to deal with griefers. Anyone have any info?

Yup, Much wished and asked for but FD are determined to push CQC and PvP in our version of ED. Personally, I'm hoping the toerag griefers will all dry up and blow away after a few weeks. Otherwise...I can see Fallout 4 being very interesting :)

I don't really understand why the Private Group option is missing from the XB1 version. It never worked even from the first day of the GPP. We did have the Private Group included in the menus, but it was removed without explanation upon the first GPP build update, and ever since FD has refused to respond to any and all questions regarding why.

Speaking as someone who would never play in any public/open session in any game, along with all my friends on my friends list, the lack of a Private Session option has kept everyone on my list who was considering purchasing ED from doing just that. I have a few friends that bought it during the GPP and are playing in SOLO like I am, but the rest of our usual posse won't even consider ED as long as we can't play together in a closed invite only session.

This missing feature makes no sense to me either, since the PC and Mac versions offer it, as does every modern muti-player game you care to mention.

Is it related to having to pay for multiplayer online? And the problem the people would have that have multiplayer paid for not being able to play with their friends? Or the inability to offer this to a mixed bag of people...some with access and some without?

Puzzling why no private group feature still, but you really should try open, as I've only ever seen a few cmdrs in same space and they all seemed to be minding their own business.
Came across only one cmdr on the community goal tonight, and although i was only in a cobra, same as them (albeit i run it with twin beams/rails in case of filthy pirates) he seemed to panic and drop out of sc when i had no intention of interdicting or attacking him anyway.
It may be dangerous but if you and your friends wing up, i can't see you would have many if any issues with the rabble out in the void.

I'm sure you know ED needs internet access to play...even in solo. There are some Xbox live silver account holders around no doubt, if that's what you meant... but they are, for the most part, a very small part of the games market... :)

Pfft. Me and a buddy were doing his 1st run and I saw a Viper behind him, he must've guessed that Hauler was winged with me & my Python as he disapeared as soon as I got turned their way. Didn't tell my friend as I figured he'd been through enough with his close encouter with one of the cute little white star's. :p

Exactly my point... usually they will not try to mess around with wings, but if they do its just an opportunity for you to earn extra bounty bonus.

Lmao! That made me chuckle... I'm personally still shying away from open until I have a larger ship... Currently running a nearly A spec Asp with a stripped Vulture and DBE in storage.

The thing with private groups is they allow people to play the game they want to play. The problem with unlimited open play is that casual/infrequent players are seriously disadvantaged against those who play frequently who tend to have more skill and far more resources at their disposal.

The upshot of this is that relatively few hardcore players call all the shots; for example declaring that docking computers are bad and anyone who uses them should be attacked.

Less skilled and casual players have paid for the game and have as much right to enjoy it as anyone else. At the moment the only way they can do this is playing solo. A great many of these people would like to join a community of similar players and interract cooperatively. Private groups (e.g. Mobius) would allow this.

Welp, if they aren't going to implement private groups into the console version then I am not putting any more money into it. I was really looking forward to getting a group of friends together and exploring some airless moons and rocky planets. Looks like that, at this juncture, is not going to happen. I really hope they break the silence on this topic and not leave their customers in the lurch here. I want to support Frontier, but I also would like to have a choice when it comes to private, solo, or open.

Yup. Me and a mate wing up regularly and would like private option.
Can't see why this is such an issue to implement?
It's obviously wanted as mobius exists on pc.

The best statement on this subject yet .... well done.

Private groups are kind of a deal breaker for me. Yes, I already have the game, but I've stopped playing it entirely since I don't want to play open and solo is getting boring for me. If they don't wind up putting the private groups in before the end of the year, I probably won't bother keeping the game installed anymore, since I have better use for my hard drive space.
