Privateer's Alliance Charity Event, UA Bombing, and a Chat with the Lord Commander of PA

So it's gotten out that Privateer's Alliance stations will be targeted for UA bombing due to us being mentioned in the news letter. I need to say some things here to help with the understanding that this is not a big deal, and that there should be no witch hunts, calls for law enforcement, or labels being applied to anyone. First, let's get some facts straight:

  1. PA's Mantra is 'Play your own way, but play together' Sometimes this does get lost in translation but we do everything we can to stick to this. This also means we respect, even when it's against us, other's choices in the game. We might not like it, but we respect it.
  2. We stream a lot on twitch. We're not the biggest player group on twitch, but we get by. The charity is a month long event where PA streamers play their favorite games, but with a major focus on Elite Dangerous. Due to this, the success of the charity does not hinge on the stations being active.
  3. If it were, we would use this even to ENHANCE the event. Players doing strange things are what makes games great. For the DnD players, when you take the campaign off the rails with a good DM, doesn't that generally lead to a more fun time?

Please don't get enraged on our behalf, we're not. Focus on the charity and not the noise around it. We're supporting groups that will support gamers like us. We live very sedentary life styles, and more than likely, quite a few of us will need heart health in our future. So please, don't get mad, it raises blood pressure, it wears down your heart, and it makes you an angry person. Let's come together, have some fun, and enjoy Elite, both the good and bad that comes with it. We've already had a few in our group that have needed heart help. Let's keep the focus!

Thank you for listening to my rant CMDRs, fly safe, keep those tickers clean! O7

You're a stand up guy ph1lt0r, awesome leadership. Thanks for keeping a level head and taking the high road through this whole non-issue.

"Play your own way, but play together." A message more CMDRs could stand to take to heart.

If you guys don't have a problem with this kind of behavior, then I guess the rest of us can stand down.

Personally, I still consider the disrupting of charity events and other positive community projects like this a highly despicable act, that takes a special breed of sociopath to even consider organizing. Let alone actually carrying it out.

But hey... I have a moral compass. ;)

Way to take everything out of context. We were saying keep the attention on the charity, not the UA bomber. If you focus the attention on that, guess what, it's going to keep happening. All I said is the UA bombing has no effect on the charity event. Please don't take things out of context and bend them to fit your ideals and to put words in my mouth.

Maybe stand the attitude down, and re-read what was said, rather than now blaming the actual people running the event because they are not engaging with someone else's moral panic and are simply trying to remain constructive.

Or, I mean, go ahead and blame me now too (it's becoming a bit of a long list, really, isn't it) for clearly being a griefer or something and continue to miss the point entirely. Up to you.

As the person who brought the UA bombing of this event to light, I endorse the gracious approach of PA and ph1ltor.

PA, I, and many others may not agree on the ethics of UA bombing. But having called out the curs for who they are, we now should keep the focus on this great charity event. We will return to the ethics of UA bombing later. :)
