Probably been discussed, but Ammo "cargo" units? (Internal ammo storage expansion)?

Firstly, I love cannon loadouts. But 100 shells (yes, I know there are engineer mods to potentially double that and/or synthesis) is almost too tedious.

I don't know where or if there is a suggestion section on here, not that this probably hasn't been brought up many times before... but there are extra fuel tanks, why not do something akin to those, but to work with ammo?

Say, for example, 10 cannon per ton, 100 multi-cannon rounds per ton? If you have a C6 Module, that'd be an extra 640 cannon, or 6400 MC (64T). It would make things very interesting, and more fun (in my opinion). Again, this is just a basic off the cuff example. I'm sure it could be formulated scientifically. Same goes for the other projectile weapons/ammo.

Don't really see why it couldn't work in a similar way to limpets, whereby you'd just have regular cargo racks and then fill them with ammunition, where 1 unit of ammunition would be one reload.

I suppose that's one angle I never really though of... Not being a programmer, I don't know how "easy" anything would be like that though.

This would be my preference as well. It allows you to fine tune how much ammo you carry, and caters to multirole ships more than another dedicated combat module would.

It's way too late in the game to make this kind of change, but I quite like the idea of weapons having no built in magazine (outside of the currently loaded ammo, which the game insists on calling a clip) and all munitions being taken on manually as cargo. It would give lasers (and plasma slug) a much needed boost compared to kinetic weapons too.
