Problems setting up Rhino X56 hotas

Dear commanders,
I recently got back to ED afer a long time. I spent hundreds of hours in the game with my former T-flight hotas without a single issue.
Yesterday I tried to set up the Rhino X56 I bought specifically for this game, and I had serious issues. I spent 2 hours and destroyed 2 asp trying (I'm in an outpost and if I try to launch with hotas axis not working, I got a drift and get stuck in the structure, then they vaporize me for loitering).

I'm able to assign roll/yaw/pitch axis in the "custom" profile, but once in the cockpit they don't work (I see no pilot hands moving). If I select the predefined X56 profile, it does not work either. I'm able to assign buttons and china hats and they work properly, the problem are the axes.

Now, I can't find a way of trying settings without getting destroyed. I will try to move away from the outpost using mouse/keyboard or old joystick but I want to make sure that there is no other input causing the drift I have in the axis.
Is there a way to reset completely all commands, so that I have a clean profile to assign all axis/buttons from scratch? Some file to be deleted in the ED folder?
Any other ideas to safely setup and trial the x56 without being destroyed?

Thanks a lot,
frustrated CMDR Annoluce

You can just start the tutorial to test these things out, it wont affect your live game at all then. Thats what I did to set up my X56 to begin with.

I think the 2nd mission is probably the best.

Guys,
I finally got it, after several trials and having destroyed 2 ships (did not log out, me fool). I had to move out using keyboard and then try in the space. Indeed, I also discovered that there is a very good training now in Horizons, I can use for this purposes. Never knew about it since I quit playing for 2 years. Next time though, I will take a stock sidey to do my testings.

Cheers
Max
