Newcomer / Intro Problems since last update

Hi,

Fist time poster, been reading for a while.

Has anyone had issues since the last update?
The latest (1.07?) has crippled my game. Granted I'm not running a powerful system but it's got so bad that I can hardly navagate the option menu whilst docked. It won't register my selection for the graphics menu etc.

If anyone has any pointers I'd greatly appreciate it.

Might need to look a graphic settings for game, as last patch or 2 have been addressing optimizing for some graphics cards.
My problem with game originally is that it asked to scan hardware, which allowed I did, then game set graphic setting WAY to high and over heated my card.
It is there for possible that you have the wrong settings on your game and may need to lower them or cut out a few things.

I've had all kinds of graphical issues since the last update that I never had before. Closing and relaunching the game fixes it, though sometimes I have to close all the way out several times before it works.

System specs:

i5 2500k @ 4.3ghz
16gb ram
GeForce GTX560 Ti
Dell 22" single monitor 1080p

My issue (new today) is that Elite: Dangerous no longer recognizes my Saitek X-55. And to be honest (to me), the game isnt worth the price without it... Is there a fix for this? Should I be asking for a refund?

Try punting for a refund with the Support section..... no forum member can help with that here

surprised that you're trying non Saitek X-55 recog as your escape route... even simple generic joysticks are seen... you just have to apply a little grey matter to map the keys

good luck CMDR

most of the problems with the last mini patch .... seem to be appearing on these boards in the form of annoying bounty/wanted bugs... which can be fixed by player logging

1st time I've seen a issue with graphics.... which is rotten considering that the patch , as already stated, was mainly to address lower bracket GPU optimization

I can only follow the others and suggest you try some manual adjusts in the Graphics section..... resolution, sync, draw distance ... even Galaxy Map resoultion can all be adjusted down or up.... worth a punt

The scan hardware set mine too high as well.
If your card overheats, it might be overclocked too high in your card settings. I ride my Radeon at 70C and no higher.

I'm using a six year old Core 2 runing at 2.9 with four gigs of ram and a 2g HD6450 Radeon card. I get the best results choosing the Medium preset and then turning off glow and blur and putting reflections to low, except for the Galaxy Map which needs to be high for resolutions sake IMO. Turning off anti-aliasing raises the framerate alot.
Use Ctrl F to see your FPS

I'm still tweaking the graphics options and I got the game in September lol.

Hope that helps. Good Hunting CMDR

really surprised that you have issues with such a reasonably well spec'd DT rig..... I can run this on a humble 2 year old laptop way below your spec... ok not ultra settings.. but I can trade and explore ok until I get home on the weekends

Might be a resource problem more than graphical... it's hard to track these sort of things down... stick with it CMDR :)

If you're using Nvidia try the Geforce experience to optimise the game for your setup. That should probably work.

I've recently had my key bindings reset twice now. Most annoying thing ever having to redo them.

I should be smart and copy my key bindings file so I have a backup but the path to where it is located is complicated and seems to differ for each user. Anyone lend a hand with that?

back it up

C: > Users > (your name) > App Data (may be hidden so un hide hidden files in control panel) > Local > Frontier Developments ( note NO underscore _ ) > Elite Dangerous > Options > Bindings

Thanks for the replies.

Finally got into the Graphics settings but had to do it from the main menu. Still can't get the menu up from within the game.

Runs a little better now but still needs tweaking.

Cheers mate, I'll give it a try.

np

if you have made any non standard adjustments... the file will be called custom.bind.... you can rename that file to anything you like as long as you keep the .bind extension

eg. lowest.bind

it will then appear in your controls list as lowest... or whatever you call it

That is strange; I have an i7 (clocked to 4.2Ghz), 8Gb ram and a GeForce GTX560 (not even a Ti)...and the game runs great with everything maxed bar shadows (medium), and no ambient occlusion.

Using the 344.75 driver from Nov 14; the latest wouldn't play, couldn't even run a screen saver as "No Direct3D device present"! Rolled-back and it all worked great again.

issues of note:
* shields displaying on enemies when shields are down (solid blue graphic)
* missions becoming stuck in my transactions and can't be abandoned
* Lighting effect occasionally pops from dark / light (inside stations and the background star/universe changes from grey (light) background to black (dark) at certain times.
