Problems with Galactic Map "Map View" option

Hello From Sag A*

Just got here using the Scoop-Horn-Jump and now i want to sight see. But when i use the "map" view to look at star types it only shows around a 12ly to 14ly radius around the Gal map nav icon (the blue circle with the arows) no mater how far i zoom out. this does not happen in realistic view. i remember when I Started this trip before 1.3 dropped that seamed the bubble was larger, is my memory playing tricks on me? i also installed and started using the Steam based client around 1.3 dropped so is it a setting that needs tweaking?

Any help would very welcomed as i dont want to search for neutrons with only a 25-ish LY bubble to see through.

While the thread you linked does indeed have some good information on neutron stars field locations, my problem is not "how do I filter" it is "how do get the Map option to display more than an 14-ish LY radius bubble of systems (regardless of zoom level) around my nav icon"

"how do get the Map option to display more than an 14-ish LY radius bubble of systems (regardless of zoom level) around my nav icon"

I was in the Neutron fields about a month ago - back then my map showed me thousands of neutrons in massive blocks of space. Now I'm back, but I can only see a small fraction of the total.

The same number of stars are still here of course, but my map isn't displaying in the same way for some reason (tinfoil-hat-on: xbox nerfed)

I wish I'd taken screenshots from my last trip - you could certainly get a clear picture of the scale of the neutron field back then. Now I can only see neutrons within a 26 ly bubble around me.

EDIT:

Here's what it used to look like:
Neutron stars as far as the eye can see!

Here's what it looks like now:
I can only see the neutron stars within 26 light years of my current position!

OP,

It certainly isn't your mind playing tricks.

There has been a change to the display on the Gal Map in Map mode which all seemed to start once 1.3 dropped. I haven't been able to put my finger on what exactly it is and noticed last night after the new patch that things look a lot more sparse when viewing the map. Similar to others, I was in an area where I had only the bottom 3 filters ticked and was seeing Neutron's, BH's & Dwarfs further from my location. Then last night with the same filters set I wasn't any longer seeing the ones that were slightly further away, even rotating around didn't bring them back into view.

At the moment it seems with each patch released the view on the Gal Map changes, or then again it could just be me.

It is not you i am rellay having promblams with the the stupid blue discs make near impossable when you are close to the core

The map got nerfed massively to the point when It become utterly useles. when using filters I could see so much more in version 1.2. At the moment I can see sfere of around 60ly from central point. Here small film how it looks at mine

. When I subbmited ticket this what I received
"The only way to reduce the visibility is in Options -> Graphics -> Galaxy map. Have a look and set it to high again if it's lower. You may also want to delete the folder
C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Player to make sure your map settings get saved correctly.
Note Appdata is a hidden folder by default and you may have to enable "Show hidden files and folders" in the System Control Panel -> Folder Options"

this did not work. I think they just literaly broken it in order to smooth things out and due to works being made on xbone. Also loadss of people complaing that the whole visuals is downgraded too.

At the moment I'm so dissapointed and annoyed. Everything what they do is for worse and they want me to play other games. No doubt that this happen is they will carry on doing such dodgy stuff on players

I can also see to nearly 60 LY, and it's the same if I change the graphics setting to low. It sounds like a bug if you can't see that far, which isn't really very far at all. I'm sure I used to be able to see things further away.

Incidentally, big_bad_lynx, I watched the video and saw you clicking on options individually. Did you know that you can click and drag across them?

Actually, the 60 LY that I reported is only was because I'm in the inhabited bubble.

I've just been looking around the galaxy map and the size of the sphere varies depending on where you are. It's very small near the galactic centre and in other dense regions and is much bigger in sparse regions.

So it appears that it varies star density. <15 LY near the core is too small though, it's not even half your jump range. I guess that FD responded to complaints about bad performance in the map and overdid the fix. The realistic view shows way more stars.

thanks for your reply. what you say is true as it more less the same stuff what receved from frontier support. he denied connection between xbox and pc but he mentioned that it is due to plotting the route. I was reading patch notes and I couldn't find however note about screwing this bit.

Exactly the same problem with 15Ly bubble, which is a absurd... how do I suppose to plan my rote in manual mode if I can jump 33Ly?
Exactly the same finding about start density on outskirts it can be ~60Ly (never saw it bigger then 60 though ) at centre it is close to 15 !!! This is plain stupid.... Did anyone reported a bug ?
