problems with key bind set up for cobra mk 5

hi everyone i have just bought the game and im having a real problem with the key bind set ups. I want to do xobiology and i have bought the detailed surface scanner and put it on my ship. I have taken off the weapons for the moment to make it easier. In the fire groups panel i cant seem to put the no 1 and 2 in the A column. Also i cant seem to find anywhere what key brings up the detailed surface scanner and puts it away. if any one can help me or point me in the right direction to the informtion that i need would be apreciated. I have been at this all day trying to get the scanner to work with no luck. when i go to the fire groups panel under the column A i dont know how to put the no 1 in the column. when i go into space it says that there is no fire groups set up when i press the mouse fire button. also how do i get into analyze screen to use the dss.

1 and 2 are the primary and secondary fire buttons
when using a dss you must be in slow speed supercruise to fire a scanning missle at a planet (not in normal space)
you must also switch your hud mode from combat to analysis mode
dunno why you cant set fire groups in the column but it does sound like noob error to me
type elite dangerous dss into youtube and you will find many guides on that and almost anything ya wanna learn about

From the right panel (key: 4) you should set your fire group similar to the below
I can't remember if I have changed the default but use the cursor keys to select a slot and the space bar cycles between 1 2 and blank

If using HCS then you need disco scan on secondary fire button or exploration mode won't disco scan on system arrival.

I think it probably best to advise the new player to have DSS on fire button 1 and disco scan on 2 - the multiple "1" assignments in that picture could well confuse a new player.
