Problems with save files, career mode

Hi,
I'm having some issues with save files. I play Planet Zoo on my home computer, but some times I use my laptop on the go too (yes, addicted). Steam cloud sometimes works, not always. I have transferred save files too, but the main problem is with career mode. When I'm on the career mode page I don't see the progression on my laptop. I can open the save file from "my zoos", but cannot see the progress stars etc. on the career mode page.

For example I can launch the last career mission when I'm playing with my home computer. However I cannot launch it from my laptop, since my laptop says I'm on the 7th mission. If I go to "my zoos" I can launch the save files, but nothing changes on the career mode page. Still says I'm on the 7th mission.

Is someone else having similar issues? Does the save files and career mode progress stars transfer when you upgrade your computer?

This has me worried since I'm upgrading my home computer soon and I really don't want to lose my career mode progress.

I don't think it transfers properly.
A lot of games have issues with progression when you play from the same account on 2 separate systems.

While this thread answers the question to the achievements, maybe the same logic applies to your question.

Thanks for the link. It has really similar issue as mine.

I think the strange part is that I played first 7 career missions on my laptop (it was nice playing those while travelling), but after that I played the rest of missions on my home computer, since covid-19 situation keeps me home. The progress transferred from my laptop to home computer fine, I started from mission 7 or 8 at home. Of course I assumed that the progress made at home would transfer to laptop too.

I really hope the progress transfers to my new home computer after upgrading it. We'll see.

Just on the subject of save files, is there a way to change where the game puts the files? I have a small SSD C:/ drive and like to keep it as clutter free as possible. As such, my PC is directed to use the User file on a different drive, but Planet Zoo doesn't default to using that.

Is there a way to change it?

@Daji, we had someone else report quite a similar issue, which @NL_Mutso kindly linked above.
Are you playing across multiple profiles? Are you allowing Steam enough time to sync before launching the game?

@Magenpie, you could try to follow something like this: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-move-default-user-folders-new-drive-windows-10 but that is completely up to you, and not particularly recommended by us.

Thanks so much for your reply Chante, however I've already done this bit. My problem is that Planet Zoo continues to house it's save files on my C drive, DESPITE having already changed the user file location on my PC. How can I direct the game to use my designated User file on my E drive, where all my other save files are?
