Elite / Frontier Problems with Space Stations

I'm having a serious problems with space stations in Glfrontier: I make the hyperspace jump, use F2,F6,F2, etc and get the orbital map with the names of the moons/ planets and space stations around them. What I don't get is the little dot for the space station that I can click on for the Autopilot. I can zoom in all the way to space station itself... but still can't set it for the Autopilot. Using Windows XP, shareware Frontier in c:\frontier and Glfrontier in c:\glfrontier. Am I doing something wrong/ is there some bug I'm unaware of? On a related note, Glfrontier will run under Windows 7; but on my computer at least, still the space station problem.

On orbital map clicking an object merely focuses the camera on it. To select it as target you'll have to press the target button on lower right or, IIRC, f10, then click it.

My point is that I don't have a target. As I recall from the original, orbital map brings up the name of the space station, plus a little dot next to it, which can be zoomed in on to show the station it self. Click on that and it's set as the target for the Autopilot. The dot doesn't appear... I can zoom in on the station but there is no way to target it.... F10, last icon on the right, has nothing in it at this point.

I think you can press 't' or 'a' on the keyboard (I can't remember which) and then click on the station to set the autopilot that way.

It has everything in it at this point as it tells the game that you want to select the next object you click on as autopilot target, not merely center it on your map screen to take a better look.

It's 'T' (or empty green rectangle on nav console) in FFE. In FE2 it's F10 or the orange-red star/crosshair icon on the lower right.

Clearly, I gave insufficient detail in my initial post. Here's what happens: while in initial docked position, I use F2 to bring up my destination; I then depart and hyperspace to the chosen system. F2 then brings up a grid with a large number of star systems, my destination in a green circle in the centre. At this point, F2 should bring up the orbital map, but doesn't. F6 brings up system details... main star, planets, space stations, etc. Although the symbol for orbital map is on F2, that doesn't work, but it is also on F10. I click F10 which brings up the orbital map of my destination, use F7 to zoom in. Usually, and in the Dos version, at some point a white dot will appear next to one of the names of the space stations, on which, DOs version, I could click to select. In the Glfrontier version, that doesn't happen. Clicking on the name of a planet centres it on the screen and I can continue to zoom in until the space station itself comes up on screen. At the point, F10 has no icons in it, and clicking on it does nothing. Pressing F10 does nothing. Pressing T, t, or a also do nothing. So.... how can I select for the Autopilot to take me there?

A known bug in GLFrontier. Use F2 on your keyboard instead.

Or even better, use DOS FE2 under DOSBox. GLFrontier is a cool project as a programing feat, and I did reach Dangerous rating using it, but, apart from ugly and broken GL mode, and crafty but odd missile launch workaround for IC, it offers nothing original PC version doesn't while lacking texture support, as it is based on the Atari version.

but it is also on F10. I click F10 which brings up the orbital map of my destination, use F7 to zoom in.
Same key can have different purposes depending on the context. The other purpose in case of F10 is remote orbital map, which is for viewing purpose only and doesn't allow target selection.

To target anything anything through the orbital map, you have to use the local orbital map of the system you're in, which is accessible via F2 key.
Since the icon is broken in GLFrontier and immediately rests back to the star map, you have to use F2 on your keyboard, then press F10 or the corresponding icon, following by clicking on your destination.
