See, it's that picture right there that makes me think AI is included, I don't believe that 4000 people have passed through Aulin in the last 24 hours. Even if it counts your ship each time you pass through.

Don't forget, solo and private group players are also in that count - as they effect the trading as well open players. So just because you didn't see 4000 ships pass through, people trading in solo and groups will be counted as well.
Plus, when I am trading in my Asp, I can hit the same few systems 15 - 20 times per gaming session (each time will count) plus I have friends trading with me who will also count. So 3 of us can rack up 60 ships on that table in 1 session.

Sorry but I don't believe in the slightest that it is only listing real players - just that it doesn't list all NPC's

It will list players that are in solo or private groups.

Also from past posts a single ship only counts once (each 24 hours) even if it comes and goes in and out of the system many times.

Maybe it was only one Anaconda entering the system 8 times?
As far as I know, multiple visits by the same player still add to the counter.

Reentering a system does exactly this
