Profits from rebuilds?

Just curious, but how profitable is rebuilding destroyed stations? Is it worth the effort of the travel time? Or do you get pittance for the effort? Was thinking of building an Orca for job, as it has a good laden jump range, even if it's hold isn't the biggest, and it's a lot cheaper than an Annie (considering I recently bought a T9).

So, if someone could give me some rough numbers, I'd be grateful. Also, advice on ship choice for the journey would be bad either.

It's really not very profitable, which is one reason why it's going to take so long.

If you want to make money out of the Thargoid menace, run Basic Meds into the currently burning Damaged Stations. 6k a ton profit.

Payouts are very low, am surprised there is such a big effort to fix these stations. The weird thing is you can make 30+ million an hour hauling cargo 5LY for Aegis in the Pleiades sector.

Now I appreciate it is not all about the money for many cmdrs, but those repair haulage runs should be looked into. With high paying wing haulage missions rolling out tomorrow, it makes me wonder why anybody would bother getting those stations back up and running.

Wait....

It used to only be 3k?

It it's now 6k, I know what I'm doing till 3.0 hits....

As one of those repair haulers I can tell you the payout is bad. You'll earn money, sure, but it's nothing you want to do to become rich.
Say about 1-3 million per hour depending on faction states, (big) ship, and commodity.

I daresay most commanders who participate with high numbers don't need money any more and do this "for the cause".

2 things though:
- we hope the numbers will be looked upon in 3.0
- we hope something happens if the first starport goes back online.

Edit: regarding ship choice

As most commodities slowly dry out in the pleiades, you'll need a ship doing at the least the 170 LY to Arnason/Ngobe in decent time,
so most of our long range haulers use "long-range condas" like my "Save The Oracle!" https://eddp.co/u/lZkN4Lpa

They should have set up mission tables for these stations that are brimming with "provide xyz to repair our facilities" with the commodities being part of the list what's needed at the station and then added to the delivered amounts. Would have made going there with a variety of stuff to fill in what's currently on the mission boards, sell off the rest and go for a new delivery run more rewarding, both in terms of credits and the impression of doing something for the people affected.

Will fireworks do?

Honestly a Thargoid strike on a station is far better than any nerf for shutting down what is going on - Just imagine if we'd have had Thargoid Stiked at Quince, Rhea, Ceos, Sothis, or any other place too many people spend too much time making too many credits doing the same things over and over.

Odd are pretty much everybody knows about Palin missions out of Hypocrisy Station (formerly Obsidian Orbital), but since it was hit, these no longer spawn. Who needs a mission nerf when you can just cripple the station (perhaps Scripple would be a better word, since there really never is an actual attack, just a scripted change-of-station state). And look how long it's been offline.. so many can stand to do the same things so many times for so long, except when it comes to making an effort. Then forget it.

Bhal system has reduced to below 3k, the other burning station is still paying 6k for basic meds.

Just to clarify? Burning station? You mean the rescue ship, or I have to cook myself to make the big money. I'm not exactly ecstatic if the latter. Sure, it's interesting, but also a massive pain after the excitement wears off.

It's not that bad! A single heat sink launcher should be adequate, if you're just docking and undocking... just gotta be quick popping the one on your way out.

I have to applaud you on still using that name. Even if we disagree, you at least have a consistency I can only admire in a world of back tracking and general sleaziness (apologies if spelt wrong). Bravo sir!

Personally though, I don't think it's just about mega bucks, or I hope it isn't. I just seems pointless to travel all that way, when doing the local groceries nets you the same profit, for a fraction of the travel time. It leaves a bit of a sour taste in your mouth.

It would just be nice if the game acknowledged how far you had to travel to get the goods, that's all.

Not an issue at all, I was collecting escape pods out there in a T-10, 8 minutes at a time hovering inside the station whilst my collectors worked, switch off non essential modules and occasionally drop a heatsink. If you are delivering cargo it is much easier, just fly in and head inside the hanger.

@Mrat13 - it almost seems broken, such a high demand and yet no increase cr/t. System state trading works correctly, so does hauling meds to stations under attack, seems strange that these repair state stations are paying regular prices for desperately needed commodities.

Ok maybe it isn't too bad for most people, but I generally auto dock and.....

No, I know what your thinking. I can actually dock ok, but finding the right pad takes a minute or two (which is fine in the under repair stations), and in that heat, every second counts, and juggling two things at once was never my speciality anyway.

So honestly, it's just easier to avoid them now, if I can.

I think I've mentioned it before, once or twice....

I'm making Cr4 per tonne profit shipping Emergency Power Cells to Obsidian Orbital.

A Cutter load makes me a whopping Cr2,500 and costs me around Cr100,000 in integrity repairs and re-arming.
If I'm lucky, the inevitable pirates won't show up in an unpopulated (anarchy) system so I'll get something back from the bounties.

As get-rich-quick schemes go, it's right up there with selling betamax video's or sending money to that Nigerian guy who told you he can make you a millionaire.

Feels like you're onto something, I just can't put my finger on it.....

I’ve killed so many anthill mob pirates that obsidian orbital is now hostile , 500 pirates and about 20 pirate lords have been terminated it was nice work and paid really well . So the area should be a bit safer
