Progresion is a bit slow.

So I was inside a spaceport making my way to the landingpad when out of nowere my ship explodes without warning. (I was playing solo at the time and I flying a lakon 7 going about 60 speed, it's a big ship so I don't think I was rammed since I'd survie most rammers)

So my fist thout is its a desync error of some kind, then agen it might be the wrath of god who knows.
Annyway I wouldent be making a post if it did't take 3 fipping hours to earn my loss back, to be exact I lost 3 mil dying. (I timed it and it was infact 2 hours and 51 minuts, so about an hour for a mill.)

So annyone else feeling progression is a bit slow in this game? oh and it's not the first time I die to random btw .
I hope that the progresion in this game gets at lest 2x faster (and even that is on the slow side of gaming) or alot of ppl are gonna get bored/frustrated.

Most consider me having alot of patience but this game sometimes gets on my nerves.

And don't give me that it's not the destination it's the ride , I get along by setting goals, my goal is to get a fully kittid python so that the AI's that can't fly there way out of a wet paper bag just get smeard over my shield when they ram me, so I can bountyhunt in peace and drink my te while yelling "GO BACK TO FLIGHTSCOOL YOU NUMPTYS"

Im sure I will be rammed to death by a lakon 9 comming throu the dockingport in my python one day thou.... but it ain't gonna be this year.

It is a bit frustrating to have no idea how many Kills/Bounties/Trading Credits/Explorations you need to do/get for progression? The lack of knowledge makes it seem slower I guess! I remember in the original Elite there was a nice fiction and guide book. (I guess most of you remember what a guide looked like, seems to be out of fashion now, or considered spoon-feedingly quaint.) This set out the pilot and faction ranks and what you needed to do to get progression! It was slow.........but you had a clear idea of what you needed to do!

I was landing my cobra a week ago when suddenly I lost the cockpit. as I was scrambling to land as I had 5 mins to do so before I died, I noticed that an adder was leaving. So can only assume it launched, I didn't see it and it did in my canopy. Maybe you did hit another ship. Maybe a type 9 was taking off and you missed it, or didn't as the case may be.
I will also say that 2 days ago while in my ASP I was rammed by a cobra and popped. Full shields 4 pips to shields as was at a nav point. Cobra wasn;t even attacking me just flew straight into me and popped me

Didnt another thread mention there was a problem with the lighting on an adder causing it to not cast a shadow? I wonder if it's more fundamental than that and is actually partially invisible to other players in the station? (This is wild, unfounded speculation)

To the ones sayin it might be silent running, It wasent. my shileds were up and for one and you see and hear warnings if u'r ship is to hot.
I have been playing sice alfa so I think I kinda know when random happens, this is the first time I sufferd spontaneus critical exsistance failure since release. (happend alot more in alfa/beta)
To list the I'v died to since release 1. going poof in a lakon "type7" 2. rammed by asp while in cobra 3. rammed by asp while in cobra 4. you guessed it rammed by asp while in cobra. Im getting the feeling AI asp pilots can't fly for XXXX or are aming at me.

It's strange, the same thing almost happened to me yesterday. I consider myself experienced (jimi hendrix) have done hundreds of FA OFF take off's and landings without issues in my Type-7...

Last night as I was about to leave the station, just before the port entrance it felt like I had hit something, Shields gone (full pips to shields so full strength) hull is reduced to 58% I'm thinking what the hell was that!?, get out of the station, switch FA OFF and do a full 180 drifting backwards. I was expecting to see a damaged Type-9 coming out of the port.. nothing, no ship's departing or landing.

Have no idea what could have done so much damage, the Type-7 is a tank.

I can rule out being fired on by the station/silent running/hitting the side of the station. I guess I'll never know.

Hey, I lost about the same amount twice this week, both times due to Type 9's that can't fly blocking the station entrance. First time, I tried to squeeze past but got stuck, and shot by the station. Second time I waited hoping he'd get unstuck or blown up, but after the 10 mins I was shot again. It sucks, but I'm back up to where I was. Do wish they'd improve the AI's pathfinding though :p

yeah it's a really frustrating game sometimes! I really like that!

I've played just about every type of game known to man from the time I was old enough to play them - I was just a little too young to play Elite, but my love for this series started with Frontier :)

What is refreshing is that it can't be beaten in a week - you DO have to play for the long game, and actually playing the game tired leads to genuine mistakes that cost you. It's a far cry from World of Warcraft boys and girls and no body should apologise for that!

Having said that, anyone who's ship blows up without reason deserves sympathy. That really sucks.

This. I think maybe some of what we're seeing here is some people who are used to the instant gratification of modern day games, not getting any?

Man the cognitive dissonance of the white knights is amazaballs. Ask about end game, they jump down your throat, there is no end game , it's a sandbox blah blah blah; state progression should be sped up and it's NO OK you'll finish the game too quick...if there is no end how could the rate of progression. Get you there so fast, thought it was a sandbox, what difference does it make to you if I want to play on that sandbox in a python...right now at the current rate of progress for me in my Cobra as a bounty hunter it'll take probably six months...that's not slow it's tedious and should be addressed

Pff.. I remember when we still got instruction manuals in the games case/boxing. I always remember the first time I picked a game up and all it had inside, was a disc and a single piece of paper with a promo code on it. It was then I knew things were about to change :( Couldn't beat the smell of a freshly printed manual :D
