Prohibited goods policy change suggestion

It seems unfair to me to get in trouble just for carrying prohibited goods in to a station. Just because they're in my hold doesn't mean I intend to sell or deliver them.

My suggestion is to scan me on the way out and if I don't have the exact same amount and type of prohibited goods on me as when I arrived, then I must've sold or delivered them here and then it would be fair to fine me etc.

''No officer, I was not going to sell the slaves to a trafficker, I'm just passing through, they're for, uh, my aunt. Yes, my aunt.''

I do think that we should have some kind of option to contact the authorities and surrender cargo we've found that is stolen/prohibited. Maybe we should even get a small fee for it, but I don't think that what you suggest would make sense. It's not just the selling of the goods that is prohibited at the station, it's the trade in them.

I was thinking more along the lines of "I'm not going to sell the tobacco here, but I had to stop here to get fuel or drop off legitimate cargo or ...", "Why should you care who it's for as long as I don't sell it here ?".

Simply because of how the game works. If you land on a pad... you're already "in" the market and you can buy / sell whatever. The authorities who scanned you have no means of stopping you once you've made it in and landed. Now maybe if at some point they expand how trading works at a station and that getting on a landing pad isn't the 'end all be all' of entering the marketplace ... sure... but as it stands right now it would mean nobody would ever get a fine for anything and you'd never have to sneak into a port again.

You're example is still bunk IMHO. The cargo you brought in is prohibited; period. It's not allowed anywhere in the starport. It doesn't say you're just not allowed to buy/sell them... it says they are prohibited.

That's exactly what I mean. It's trade in (and movement of) the item that is prohbited, not just purchase and selling. Just like how customs usually work.

Prohibited implies that both possession and the sale of the item is illegal.

Would you also think it unfair that some cocaine in your pocket got you into trouble?
