Feels like a dam burst to me, but there's something else going on with that crop circle element...
Intriguing project - I've said before that it's really hard to make things look broken and dirty in this game, and it looks like you've achieved both in spades!
Something in this reply hits very very close.
But i'll come back to it later. (And thank you for that big compliment)
.
If anything, all your guesses prove how creative both the PlanCo and Planet Zoo communities are.
The crop circles threw you off successfully.
That was mean, i admit.

Ok, i'll start with a hint. I usually build theme parks in PlanCo. I love storytelling and using (virtual) attractions for the narrative.
Here's the answer:
This is a formerly bankrupt Zoo,
has been bought up by one or more investors several times.
Built in the early 80s,
its infrastructure is a challenge to
overcome for any new developments.
But what you mostly saw in the pics...
It seems like an unidentified investor
took up the challenge.
This is their first major development:
A BOAT RIDE!
CENTERED AROUND THE DESTRUCTIVE FORCES OF NATURE, OF MANKIND.
Since it is Planet Zoo,
it will feature a mix of storytelling
and Live animal habitats intertwined.
On the technical side.
The ride is so detailed i toned down
the development of the rest of the Zoo
to a coherent but minimalistic piece of the storytelling process. To keep performance somewhat fluent.
(The crashes, though, it's my pc, i think..
haven't had the time to investigate further.)
You'll see what i mean by that,
once i've shown more of the park itself.
As fun as it all sounds... This really is a complicated mess of a project to tackle.
I'd say i'm about 50% done with all the finishing touches and adjustments, completions and workarounds.
And no, at first i 'only' wanted to
build a little Boat ride with animals.
It sure blew out of proportion quick
Here's an earlier pic from the project.
This is my old Reptile House entrance (see my Steam Workshop) on the first day of serving its new purpose:
Mysterious caverns
(Again, keep in mind, these are older w.i.p. screenshots)
The snow isn't going to be part of the ride,
still worth posting, i hope.
More later.

Thanks for the great and creative replies, everyone. Was fun to hear what you see when you look at the pics.
