PROJECT HYDRO - work in progress updates

Working on something i don't want to shed too much light on yet. I have to take a break from it for a bit, i wanted to keep this project in full secrecy until finished but with the break in mind that'd be another year at least until it would be anywhere close to completion.

So, let's take a first peek, shall we?

Cheers, ArtificialArtist ✌️

Interesting. Let's see the clues:

  • Project HYDRO - Hydro means water, and it's the name of some scientific project
  • Rubble and debris all over, some of it sitting in said water
  • Looks kinda like a city that's been destroyed
I haven't a clue🤣
All I can think of is that it's a research facility and they experiment with animals, specifically aquatic species

I actually wanted to surprise you with a Workshop item related to this today, but for some reason the game keeps crashing on me to the point where it's unplayable now. It kind of sneaked in after the last patch. Also i'm stuck with the current screenshots i have.

This is frustrating af.. but oh well.. make the best of it i guess. (Btw, i'm very aware my works always inspire a lot of new trends and tricks... would be nice if in the future i got more credit for that.) 🙂

Let's get back to the guessing game for the time being: Any more clues so far? The recent guesses have been quite good.

(Ignore the clutter, that's an early build. The dirt road in front of it is intentional, though. And that's the kind of detail you can expect from this project(and more)) 😃

Feels like a dam burst to me, but there's something else going on with that crop circle element...
Intriguing project - I've said before that it's really hard to make things look broken and dirty in this game, and it looks like you've achieved both in spades!

Something in this reply hits very very close.
But i'll come back to it later. (And thank you for that big compliment) 😊

.

If anything, all your guesses prove how creative both the PlanCo and Planet Zoo communities are.

The crop circles threw you off successfully.
That was mean, i admit. 😅😉

Ok, i'll start with a hint. I usually build theme parks in PlanCo. I love storytelling and using (virtual) attractions for the narrative.

Here's the answer:

This is a formerly bankrupt Zoo,
has been bought up by one or more investors several times.
Built in the early 80s,
its infrastructure is a challenge to
overcome for any new developments.

But what you mostly saw in the pics...

It seems like an unidentified investor
took up the challenge.

This is their first major development:

A BOAT RIDE!

CENTERED AROUND THE DESTRUCTIVE FORCES OF NATURE, OF MANKIND.

Since it is Planet Zoo,
it will feature a mix of storytelling
and Live animal habitats intertwined.

On the technical side.
The ride is so detailed i toned down
the development of the rest of the Zoo
to a coherent but minimalistic piece of the storytelling process. To keep performance somewhat fluent.
(The crashes, though, it's my pc, i think..
haven't had the time to investigate further.)

You'll see what i mean by that,
once i've shown more of the park itself.

As fun as it all sounds... This really is a complicated mess of a project to tackle.

I'd say i'm about 50% done with all the finishing touches and adjustments, completions and workarounds.

And no, at first i 'only' wanted to
build a little Boat ride with animals.
It sure blew out of proportion quick 😅

Here's an earlier pic from the project.
This is my old Reptile House entrance (see my Steam Workshop) on the first day of serving its new purpose:

(Again, keep in mind, these are older w.i.p. screenshots)

The snow isn't going to be part of the ride,
still worth posting, i hope.

More later. 😊
Thanks for the great and creative replies, everyone. Was fun to hear what you see when you look at the pics.

😍 that Cave looks absolutely amazing. Must've been difficult to create those awesome Stalagmites and Stalagtites because as far as I remember those are really hard to properly create. Now that I see it so well executed, I want some Cave Animals in the Game like Astyanax jordani and Cave Crickets

I usually love to do rockwork and hate it at the same time. What makes it so tedious is the vastness of the cave "system". Since i hardly CopynPaste those caves took forever. Speaking of cave animals, bats are often found there.;)

And speaking of animals:
This might be the only PZ Zoo-thread that made it to 16 replies without a single animal being shown.
And nobody even noticed

PS:
I will eventually make a lot of Workshop items and sets out of the builds,
but as i won't be able to do much on this project in the near future that'll require some patience.

-
For the time being, happy to hear your thoughts, comments and questions regarding this project!

But more would be nice to have 🙃

Salland Adventure Zoo🙃

I wouldn't mind more cave animals, for sure ;)

What's the number to beat? (kidding)

So, i gotta lay this to rest for a bit, PZ keeps crashing on me, even after the last update.
Was running smooth up until the previous Update to this one.
Might switch over to PlanCo for the time being, still have a 4 years running park project to finish there, too

😕 Really hope it will work for you again soon. It sucks when you want to play but can't for a really long Time

It does, takes away all the momentum. I do regret posting it now. Should have kept it a secret until finished. Too much shown from my bag of tricks and in the end it gets copied and others take all the credit.. like the usual.... i'm pretty much done with being a great source of inspiration for everyone else. If all you get is envy and no credit whatsoever.

Edit: for context, my PlanCo mods (200+ ultra-quality items, all built from scratch) have been downloaded over 250,000 times, yet my name hardly is dropped anywhere, compared to most others. Credit where credit is due, should go for this community as much as for every other place in the world.
Hence why i hardly contribute anything to this community any more. Why make everyone else bucks on youtube while they wouldn't even mention my name? Which is the very least that one would expect for all their hard work (thousands of hours of work in contributions).
