Project Scorpio - 6 TFLOPS

You know what funny about all this 4 x time ps4 pro power, most games will never use that power because they will be limited by PS4 and PS4 Pro is far superior number of consoles sold into the market number thus the ability to sale more games.

I reckon PS4 will available at around £150 mark by next christmas if not cheaper, there already odd deals at around the £179.99 price, Xbone floating about at £150. Both consoles will probably be the first ones available for less than a hundred quid since PS1 era and WII I believe was under a 100 quid at point but I'm not sure about that inside 24 months.

Big question will be with the PS4/Xbone so cheap how will this affect Switch and scorpio and pro sales. I really do see Nintendo struggling given how cheap the other consoles are compared to its offering.

I agree with everything you said.
The only games that can utilise the extra horse power are brand exclusive titles like Gears of War. Cross platform titles can never be optimised to fit the hardware in the best way.
I'm super pleased with my PS4 Pro and have no intention of buying a Microsoft machine.
Still, it's interesting to see how the different brands uses PR tricks to lure the consumer over and over.

Frontier should be able to beef up Elite notably on the Scorpio at least. Can't imagine they would not do it, seeing as they also announced PS4 Pro support. Higher texture resolution, more stable fremrate, higher geometry, better anti aliasing etc. would probably all be welcome. As would be graphic options I imagine.

Don't get your hopes up though. Many games on the Pro isn't that much better than on the base Ps4. Usually, developers just up the resolution to 1440p or 1800p and just call it at that. They seldom use checkerboard rendering or any other supported technology one the Pro. Probably because extra development time increases the cost.
To this day, Rise of the Tomb Raider is still the best example of how to utilise the more powerful hardware with its many options for users to chose from.

The difference being the PS4 Pro is using an overclocked version of the same Jaguar CPU in the base PS4, which is why developers are running into problems hitting higher framerates at higher resolutions as the Pro's CPU is acting as a bottleneck. It's been heavily hinted from multiple development sources that the Scorpio will be using a new type of CPU, most likely some kind of Puma/Ryzen hybrid, pair that with a 6TFlop GPU and 12GB of 320GB/s VRAM and the performance capabilities between the Scorpio and PS4 Pro are going to be quite significant.

If you are basing your opinions on information from Eurogamer/Digital Foundry.....you probably need to do a bit more digging, I take anything from DF with a large grain of salt as they are notoriously pro Sony, and will always try to downplay anything Microsoft/Xbox related.

Given Frontiers long time relationship with Microsoft I would hope that ED would get a significant bump in all areas on the Scorpio, but time will tell.
