It also mentions they already had results. If the technology is ready for public testing.... is there anywhere I could sign up as a test subject to be able to pilot Thragoid ships?

As far as was implicated; those results were obtained by torturing almost an entire human testing pool to death. Humans who were unwillingly subjected to biomechanical implant experiments that killed all but one of them. And the one who survived/momentarily flew a Thargoid Scout is now working with Alba Tesreau to try to get Salvation disavowed and arrested for crimes against humanity.

But, yknow, who needs to follow lore when gimme new ship, so please submit your application for test subject intake at the Bright Sentinel in HIP 22460, and remember to sign off on all waivers.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. In ED the vaccine definitely existed, the thargoids overcame their vulnerability to mycoid and Mic Turner mysteriously disappeared. These events all seem to fit...

Probably a lot harder to kill a player controlled scout with caustic missiles. Maybe not so much DPS, but dat hyperspace good
