Some ideas ive been mulling over and wished to share with CG players and with some luck maybe a CM. (sorry in advance I cant speel)
The Fundamental CG Changes :-
Change CG % rewards from "Credits Only" to Credits or Materials or Commodeties and change the reward to be % based on the amount handed in. Reason being is if you make 15 Billion Credits doing the CG getting 30 Million Credits as a reward, is a little pathetic, But getting 10% of handed in as CR reward (1.5bil) or 10%s worth of handed in as matterials or a 10%s worth of handed in as "any" commodety, would be nice.
Change CG support vessels to have more than 3 landing pads. its redonculous™ that the supporting megaships in CGs have only 3 pads for players. Open all pads on the megaships to players and maybe add some more pads. Also Stop NPCs lading there (make it a Pilots Fed Cmdrs only Lore thing). This is very noticable in Open and busy Private Groups, where you tend to leave the Server to go solo then rejoin after docking. which is all very time consuming with rejoining wings and such, as well as Immersion breaking.
The Prolonged CG Campaign Example Stuff :-
Have the Primary Campaign run for 4 weeks MINIMUM.
Give the Primary Campaign a NAME !
Give the Primary Campaign an Icon !
Have smaller 1 week CGs run at same time as Primary Campaign.
Have these smaller CGs aid the Primary Campaign. This is important so that those who do not like the Primary activity can participate via other activities during the main Campaign.
Example for an AX Primary Campaign :-

A Deliver supplies CG or Passengers (troops) or similar :-
1st week reward at t1 - option to buy grade 1 AX/Guradian synth ammo from Primary Campaign stations for remainder of Primary Campaign.
A Gather Data CG or Mine Ore or similar:-
2nd week reward at t1 - option to buy refills for all, heatsink/limpet/afmu mats for synth, from Primary Campaign stations for remainder of Primary Campaign.
A Search and Rescue or Salvage or similar :-
3rd week reward at t1 - option to buy Premium AX/Guadian ammo synth from Primary Campaign stations for remainder of Primary Campaign.

These are just example Ideas. The main point is that the supporting CGs rewards aid the Primary Campaign and give players options on the activity throughout the Campaign.
Give out a Participation Decal (Campaign Icon) for the whole Campaign. Eg: Icon with the "Campaign Name" below it.
Give out Decals for each supporting CG based on its type. Eg: Salvage Decal for Salvage supporting cg. you already have all these decals.
Give out Varied Decals (as you already do) for each level of %. Eg: top 50% get white Icon decal - top 10 players Gold Icon decal.
Give out a paintjob for the overall Campaign given to anyone who participates.
Give out a "Campaign Icon" paintjob to anyone who comes in top 10% for any of the CGs or Primary during the Campaign.
When it ends remove all assets and rewards from the campaign regions.
With some tweeking I think this model could fit most Campaign styles not just AX.
