Promotion to Elite in Combat (..and Triple Elite)

Hello friends:

I am very happy. Today, after 4 years of playing E.D. uninterrupted I finally managed to do the Elite achievement in combat and also make the achievement of Triple Elite.

I have to say that of all the possibilities offered by this huge game, the combat is the least I like. That is why it has been a considerable effort for me to get it without help, at the time, of "easy roads", ie, I did not want at the time to raise this rank massacring skimmers in 17 Draconis, etc.

It took several years with the rank stagnated in deadly but, shortly to leave the new patch and thinking about the months I'll be out of the bubble in the next DWII I thought it was time to strive to get this, for me, great challenge.

That's why I'd better share my joy with the Forum friends :)

My way up (if someone is good to know) has been to find a beacon without security forces-in my case the one that exists in the system LEHPM 1902 because the beacon is permanent-and, without looking at the type of ship , to destroy the searched ships only of level deadly or elite. This way every 5% rise equals more or less 1.30 hrs of play.

Regarding the ship, I used a Corvette with the following configuration:

https://s.orbis.zone/12-8

The combination of burst laser + MC is simply great for this task. And the recharge of the MC by very economical synthesis to realize.

And now, some photos:

And the triple Elite:

Now, to prepare well the next exit for the DWII and... to raise the range in CQC!!!

PS: As Newbee I am, I do not know exactly if this post should go elsewhere in the forum. If so I apologize and ask that some administrator move it to the right place. I also apologize for my spelling mistakes or grammar. As you can see, Shakespeare's language is not my mother tongue. ;)

Congratulations. I recently achieved triple-Elite status myself, did it by hunting Thargoid scouts. Like you I started at NAV beacons trying to sort out who was ranked Elite and who was not but that quickly became a pain. All Thargoids are ranked Elite so killing them makes maximum improvement to a CMDR's combat rank and the Scouts are by far the easiest to kill. I went from combat Competent to Elite in about 3 months of very casual play.

Welcome to the club. o7

Yes ! I knew the possibility of destroying thargoid and climbing faster but... I think deep down they are our friends and I would never do that to them !
Really destroy Thargoid going, for now, against my principles within the game

Role mode off: As I said before, I did not want at the time to use the possibility of climbing faster slaughtering skimmers and, now, I did not want to do with the Thargoid

Thanks for the welcome to the club.

Right on Commander ;)

You can add your screenshot to the Triple Elite Hall of Fame if you like :)

Oh thanks for the link to the forum post. I've been reading it for a long time, but now I couldn't find it.

I'll upload a picture right now.

No Flower-ship has ever fired on me and I do not attack them, except for scouts. Not because I care about RP but (a) no flower-ship has ever shot at me and (b) the large flower-ships are fairly difficult to kill. The scouts however are always immediately hostile and I have no qualms about destroying them.

Oh! I didn't know that fact. And I would like to ask you what kind of signals are the Scout Thargoid?

Grats! Think I've noticed on your screenshots you have anisotropic filtering disabled. Is it intentional?

Even 16x AF consumes little computing power of fairly even modern graphics cards and improves the overall quality a lot! Not sure if you can manage it via game settings menu, but you can for sure turn it on via e.g. Nvidia Control Panel.

P.S.
This is what I'm talking about:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anisotropic_filtering

I have the SMAA filtering that is recommended by Nvidia.

What happens is that I have the game in bordeless windows because sometimes I use applications that overlap in the game.

This is my current configuration:

Oh! I didn't know that fact. And I would like to ask you what kind of signals are the Scout Thargoid?

If you want to encounter only scouts, look for Threat 3 and Threat 4 Non-Human USS. Threat 3 will have 2 scouts, Threat 4 will have 4 scouts or more rarely 8 scouts. The AXI Discord:

https://discord.gg/WjBJZR

publishes a list of the systems being attacked by Thargoids on a weekly basis. Consider joining the AXI Discord. You do not have to join to get access to their list but, it's free, they offer ship build advice, advice on how to defeat Thargoids and they are committed to defending humanity against "the Thargoid Menace" though they consider scout-hunting to be a beginner's activity and will encourage CMDRs to take on the larger flower-ships.

Once you find a system being attacked by Thargoids just fly around the system at 25% throttle and the Non-Human USS will pop up in front of your ship every few seconds (there's lots of them). Stick to Threat 3 and 4 Non-Human USS and you will encounter only scouts. I suggest that if you run into a Threat 4 Non-Human USS with 8 scouts in it that you RUN and escape back into Supercruise, at least until your scout-hunting skill level increases. Eight scouts can do a lot of damage to your ship very quickly.

Good hunting! o7

Aight. So I was right! And you're talking (SMAA) ANTI-ALIASING (AA), which is totally different thing. I was talking ANISOTROPIC FILTERING (AF)!

Google why they're totally different technologies (to be used simultaneously). They're total different aspects of improving in-games images quality - the AA and AF.

You should set your AF on 16x in your Nvidia Control panel (if you have Nvidia card, and in ATI Control Center - or whatever the name, if you have a RADEON card), as your screenshot of Dr. Kaii's tool clearly shows no option for it.

Do it and you'll thank me later!:))

Was it an anarchy system when you were there? It is not any more..

Understood. Thank you very much for the advice and explanations. It was all very clear.

Oh thank you very much for the explanations. I thought that, you could only put one of the two options i.e. if I choose to put aaws I could not put FXAA. Every day you learn something!

Now I have put FXAA filtering to 16x and I made these photos with the filter activated:

Do you see the difference between these photos and the first one I put? Honestly, I am very bad for these things and, although I think it looks something of better quality, I hardly appreciate it but as I say, it is something that I do not appreciate these things.

I am very grateful for, I did not know that detail of being able to put both filters at the same time is more, I thought that the configuration of the games using the program Nvidia Gforce Experience did that automatically...

Please tell me if you appreciate improvement in quality to know if I have configured well

Grats on the triple elite!

Well, I thought like you, that is, that the compromised navigation beacons were only in systems with anarchy state, but in this case (I do not know if by mistake of programming the game), although the system is currently "State: none" as you will see from the photos That I attached, the compromised beacon remains permanent and so has been at least in the last 2 months that I have been regularly playing bounty hunters.

These photos are from a few minutes ago in the game:

It's a strange case so I specified it in my previous message.

Congrats & 07 CMDR! It was only yesterday I achieved the three E's myself. Some good advice in this thread re. hunting the Thargoid scouts, that's how I broke through on the combat one!
