The latest issue of Astronomy Now did (does) a write-up on the official proper names of stars as accepted and promulgated by the IAU's Working Group on Star names (WGSN).
The current list can be found at the following link:

I have not looked to see any effect these might have on the named stars in Elite Dangerous, in the main they just standardise spellings and remove punctuations (e.g. all Al'xxxxxx stars now don't have the apostrophe).
Anywayup, I thought it might be of some interest to commanders as the list is kept up-to-date (7th November last revision).
